Default Badger's SCX10 RTR Trail Ready

Axial did a great job adding scale realism to their extremely capable SCX10 platform with a Dingo truck body with a molded plastic roll cage that has a full sized spare tire and fender flares. On the chassis they added scale bumpers with lights built in (4 up front, 2 in the rear) and rock sliders all in a RTR package.

The first thing I swapped out was the receiver for a spectrum receiver so I can use my DX3R radio. I took the rig up to the HobbyTown comp this last weekend and let several guys drive it. I did get a little time on the rocks with it and my first impression was the stock electronics are seem to be very newbie friendly. If you bound up the steering at all it would cause the servo to go back and forth until you freed the rig, I don't know if that was in the design or if it's just due to not enough BEC, I did notice the motor would also stall sometimes in a bind. Overall the stock motor/ESC has very good low end resolution and plenty of wheel speed to make the rig very fun right out of the box.

I will be adding Axials scale interior parts and a 4-link truss in the near future.

27 turn motor with stock ESC mounted to the receiver box.

Dual spring rate coil over shocks.

Front bumper with 4 white led lights.

2 red led tail lights in the rear bumper.

Battery tray mounted int the rear.

The stock steering servo has plenty of power to move the 1.9 tires.

The SCX10 TR rig comes stock with Proline 1.9 Flat Iron tires.

Gotta love that scale interior!

Comes with a full size spare tire.

Replaceable fender flares.

Rock sliders.

Bright led lights!

I think that Axial did a good job in regards to all of it's bells and whistles associated with a scale rig,...but. How are you scaling down a truck to 1:10 when there is no 1:1 version? Was it too expensive for Axial to get the rights for a Toyota or Chevy or...? After the initial shock value of these new bodies are played out, they will be collecting dust next to the stock SCX10 bodies in a corner.

I want to buy one for my son, but I will wait a little while to see how the electronics hold out. I love the SCX10's and will stick with the stock SCX10 kit with no electronics if they can't hang...i will probably have to wait until more non-biased(non Axial employees)users give their reports....

I imagine licensing is very expensive but I don't know why Axial went with this body, I do know for being a body that comes stock with a RTR rig, I think it's pretty bad ass and far more scale then any stock body on today's RTR's (except for Short Course rigs). Scale to me does not mean there is a 1:1 version, overall size and look is most of it and if is a actual replica of a 1:1 then that's icing on the cake.

Talk about turn key scale rig. The average builder trying to copy this rig would cost you so much more. This is answer for most people wanting something BA that doesn't require tracking down parts and finding out what works and what doesn't. I'll def' be buying one of these. Nice pics/info Badg'. What was the build time?

I think it comes assembled together you just need to install you batteries. You can't go wrong with that.

Yep, this is fully assembled and Ready To Run, all you have to do is install batteries in the transmitter and plug in a battery pack to the rig and your running.

Unlike Brandon, I didn't put the word "build" in my thread title because there was nothing to build. All I did was swap out the stock receiver for a spectrum receiver and cut the Tamiya plug off the ESC and soldered a Deans plug on, took all of about 5 minutes.

Actually as far as 1:1 is concerned, this body looks amazingly close to the GD series Mercedes has. The military versions we had in Greek army had in some versions a very similar cage without the slanted rear and fenders and ride on michelin xl. The caged versions are used mainly for comm units.

This RTR is Pure Eye-Candy. I don't have an SCX10 and the set of pictures and straight-forward presentation makes me wanting to grab 1, Quickly. Thanks for the Great Pictures and sharing your experience and remarks.
