Might be the bearings inside the trans. I would take it apart and lube or wd-40 the bearings.

I'm having the same problem with mine. Since my crawler began its life as a AX10 from a cousin. Which i then converted to a SCX10, i don't know what that tranny has been through and ive taken it apart a few times and checked the pinion gear mesh but i couldn't figure it out? Ill take another look tomorrow if i get a chance.

Does it have a slipper clutch? With the RR gears install did you get a spur My ax had a ticking noise and it was the spur gear had a few teeth knocked down |

I'm with Phantom- Burred spur or something between a tooth. It don't take much to tick.

Use WD 40 to clean a bearing, maybe, but don't ever use it as a lube unless it's for something open where you can re-apply like a door or cabinet hinge. There are far better lubes available as WD40 is more a penetrant and a very light lube mix.

Maybe...probably not. Bearings will sometimes tick, but usually a tick can likely be attributed to a gear. You said you installed new gears...what gears? Spur and pinion? Idler etc?

Hey Noah, maybe the spur has a tiny nick or check your pinion, maybe you have slight contact between the spur and setscrew. Goodluck!!
