| MOA convert to SCX10
O.K. I am a newbie, I have built myself a 2.2 clod crawler/basher, but when I posted pics of it I was informed it was not SCALE. My Torsion Crawler I had no idea how hardcore these scalers are! After looking at many threads in the 1.9 and 2.2 scaler sections, I have decided I need to build one for myself. The closest thing to a scaler I have built so far is putting a 72' chevy body on my son's rs10. I know it is moa but the axles are not as wide as the clods. Now I have a scx10 roller chassis coming A reedy 23 turn spec motor w/ 24 tooth 48p pinion rooster speed control (no drag brake) 7cell nimh pack I am going to he LHS and was wondering if a 14 tooth pinion would give me enough wheel speed, or should I try the 24 tooth? I have done plenty of searching, but no one runs my esc/motor combo, so don't be too hard on me. Also have a new bright rockcrawler.com body I might use. Any thoughts on the hard plastic body? I have heard they are brittle. I have had more than my share of addictions, this one seems the most harmless. I once read that if you have a habit you can't share, you should probably quit it. I have no problem at all sharing rc crawling with my son. Great site, thanks in advance for the help! Last edited by EL PHANTASMO; 12-28-2011 at 01:20 PM. Reason: looney |

I cant answer on the motor/ESC question, but I have a Hilux hard body and have bashed it on its fair share of rocks and it hasn't cracked or damaged at all. I prefer them over the lexan bodies. I have 4 lexan bodies for my drift car and all of them crack after 1-2 hits. Also, you can stiffen lexan bodies with aluminum tape if you get one of those bodies, I had to with my drift bodies. Hope this helps!

Thanks, I am glad to hear that. The new bright body is much more detailed than dingo body I have. GCM |

Good on ya, imho the 2 best hard shells are the land rover d90 or the new bright jeep unlimited. The shells though probably require a bit more work getting a decent paint job done, but once you have it really shows. Proline do a jeep unlimited and it drops straight onto a honcho chassis with no wheel base alteration. Either of the hard-shells will require wheel base to be shortened or lengthened. But they are worth it!! |

Thanks for the encouragement! Can't wait till my chassis arrives, I am really getting stoked about this build! I am thinking about o.d. green. The flat paint job will be easier than high gloss. |
