Default SCX10 Transverse motor mounting?

With all the issues of torque twist when crawling or tooling around, has anyone ever considered a transversely mounted motor? Obviously the cost to design a transmission to accommodate such a setup would be rather expensive to produce, so perhaps there is something already available in other kits? I'm thinking maybe something from a Tamiya kit since Tamiya loves bevel gears and compact transmissions, but everything I can think of is molded into the chassis. Ideas?

Torque twist is due to the occurrence of the (driveshaft) pinion gear trying to climb the ring gear. Not which direction the motor is mounted.

Your definition of transverse is different than what it really is.

Think, front wheel drive car.

True that plays a role, but I'm not so sure it's the only cause. There's a lot of weight being spun inside a motor and maybe transverse mounting might alleviate some of it?
