Default newb with motor questions

I am building my first crawler. I am pretty much building with upgrades right from the get go. I have had questions answered and found answers on here for all of the chassis, axle, and tire questions. The biggest question that I can't seem to find a straight answer for is the motor and esc. I want a brushless for the long lasting, low maintenance factor. But I am hearing from a good majority that the brushed motors are better for crawlers? I have geared my truck down to do serious rock crawling. I am really confused on what to buy to give me the results I am looking for. I almost ordered a Novak Goat 3s system with the 21.5 motor but now I am hesitating because of doubt. Can anyone set me straight on what gives you that very controllable, super low end, that I want?

You will be fine with brush-less only reason id consider brushed is if you like water (tho you can just swap in a cheap brushed if u want to play in water) i had a Novak 21.5 in my scx 10 worked great then sold it to a friend as my crawler was down for a wile and he runs it in his ax10 no problems tons of power with 6cell nimh never mind 3c lipo i don't think you will be disappointed.

edit my 21.5 was senored also btw

a novak rooster, 35t motor and say a 14t pinion will respond great. Plus with the right radio gear you can inhibit the pick up (or initial acceleration) as well making it smooth as silk.
