Possibly add a BEC? I know in stock form, the RTR SCX10, and Wraith really need a BEC or they often have similar issues.

That's what I was thinking. What do these do? And how do I hook them up? And also which one should I buy for my setup but I also want to upgrade to a brxl so that would work with that to

External Bec's replace the bec in your esc.
You solder the wires too your battery connection.
Castle bec's are pretty durable so long as you hook them up correctly.

I would make sure that your motor, esc, rx and battery connections aren't mucked up somehow also.

My stock scx would glitch under steering load when I started running 3 cells batteries. The steering servo would lock up and the rig would not move until the steering released. The 3 cells were overloading the system. I added a BEC to to keep the voltage consistent to the servos and so far that has stopped the gliching and smoothed out the throttle response and steering. At some point you're going to need a BEC when you start running stronger servos. I don't thing you'll lose anything by adding one.

A external BEC (power supply) replaces the BEC (power supply) that is in your ESC (speed control).
It takes the power from your battery and puts it directly to your receiver or directly to your servo depending on how its wired.

So i would need to wire it to my rcvr? Because the glitching has nothing to do with the steering.

This is how I have all mine wired up its simple and it takes most of the load off your bec in the esc.

Receiver batteries? Doesn't it just run off the lipo? If the lipo is old that COULD be part of the problem, but I think something else is going on here. Are your transmitter batteries good? Have you calibrated the XL5?

Post some pics of all the components here, maybe that will help shed some light on the problem.

You shouldn't have receiver batteries the receiver should be powered from your bec in the esc. Do you have a receiver battery pack on it also? If you do I would pull it off and try it. Then if that doesn't fix it see if you have the same problem a friend of mine had not long ago his kept stopping and acted like it wanted to go sometimes but wouldn't unless he bumped it which with the big pinion you are running it is possible you did. I had to pull his motor and rebuild it cause he was overheating it and fried the brushes and almost destroyed the com. IMO the largest pinion you should run on there would be maybe a 21t. PICS would help.

Good point, I didn't catch that. 14T-20T are usually run on these. Going lower is going to be easier on the motor. A 25T pinion could have fried it.

I know this is a little old.. but did you check the trim? Mine was doing the same thing. My problem was the throttle trim was bit off. I kept twitching when it was standing stil I took a look at my controller and I had bumped the trim off of "0." I fixed that and it's been fine ever since. I do need a new receiever though..

Sorry I haven't been on here in a while. But yes my transmitter batteries are good. And I put a different lipo on and it fixed it. I am gunna get a smaller pinion for the motor.
