Default D90 Camel Trophy Dingo Kit Build

Pretty standard chassis build, with the axial 4link out back and the servo posts shaved off the rear axle.
  • 5 D90 plastic wheels from eBay
  • cut down axial plastic locking hubs
  • Reign D90 Dingo grill conversion
  • Camel Trophy stickers from eBay
  • Safari Snorkle
  • Fully lit
  • RC4WD Bulldog remote winch
  • RC4WD D shackles
  • RC4WD 1.9 Rok Loks
  • Silver on the inside of the body, camel yellow on the outside with Tamiya dull clear coat (makes the scratches look cool and gives the paint a nice dull finish
  • Hitec Servo, Axial AE-2 ESC, Tamiya 27T Motor, Lipo
  • Planning to add a driver and co-driver figures with steering wheel
  • Planning to add lexan roof panels over the dingo cage, with scratch built roof rack & scale cargo

I like the color on it, you mentioned 'Camel Yellow', is that a stock color from a manufacturer or did you mix it up yourself?

It's Tamiya PS-19 Camel Yellow... RPP has it in stock I think. Some Hard core Camel Trophy guys say it's not dead on, but it's good enough for me!

Got em from Peter on eBay. He's out of China and sells the D90 Hardbody, plastic Landy wheels, snorkles, ets... If you search Camel Trophy in toys and hobbies they'll come up. Great prices and he ships fast!

Love the detail on the glass. How did you do that?

Also where did you get the Dingo grill conversion? Awesome job!

Nice detail there

I assume that you used the flat clear for the dirty windscreem effect, correct?

BTW what is the part number for the plastic links you used to 4-link the rear?

Was it AX80043 (2) or (3)?

EDIT: It must be (2) as the number (3) is used up front for the Honcho wheelbase and is quite a bit longer, but I would still like you to confirm it for me please.

Do you get any binding by using the plastic uppers for the 4-link config? Reason I ask is that, if you compare the Aluminium upper fourlink setup the ball connector that kinks on the aluminium setup is centered when resting while the ball end part of the plastic link is already at an angle......hope that was easy to understand.

Cheers

After the all the detail work was done and the stickers applied, I used Tamiya Flat Clear on the outside of the body. The dirty windshield is created by tracing out what I think would be the wiper path with a marker on the windshield decal, cutting the shape out and leaving it there as a mask before shooting the the windshield with the tamiya clear. After it's dry, remove the masking and BINGO! You've got a dirty windshield you can't clean!

I picked it up at rpphobby.com. It comes with the grill and headlight surrounds, I had to scrounge up buckets and lenses from my spare parts bin.
