Re: Dual Dingo build thread-My first build thread Did some more work on the grill. Decided to add running lights to light bezels. Putting the holes in the body wasn't the easiest thing to do. I have a reamer not a step drill and. It wasn't large enough. Found it hard to keep centered too. The hole on the right looks bad because I used a drill with wood hole bit. Don't recommend using one to make hole big with a drill. Used same bit by hand and it worked perfectly. http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/h...5139a63097.jpg http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/h...09f0bccb7e.jpg http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/h...4a5cc8971b.jpg This pic shows you what it would look like without a bezel. Add the running lights it would good this way also. http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/h...cb929bd764.jpg |

Re: Dual Dingo build thread-My first build thread Went out the other day and somehow the mud just got all over it! http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/h...3307f31e1c.jpg http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/h...8acf474282.jpg |

Re: Dual Dingo build thread-My first build thread Back to work! I pulled the body off and washed off the Carolina red dirt. Body is clean and starting to show some trail rash. "thumbsup" I've finished my second grill for Dingo 2. http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/h...8d9b58e89e.jpg Once the glue has cured I will sand the edges off and then sand the whole grill to prep for paint. http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/h...98dfc70341.jpg This is what I used to give the grill some 3D effects. It's very thin and worked great. http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/h...53589f19b9.jpg http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/h...5465984718.jpg http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/h...887ffa41a9.jpg |
Re: Dual Dingo build thread-My first build thread Bought some mini toggle switches and will mount where the shifters are on the decal. Switches are " DPDT" or "ON-OFF-ON" with dual terminals. This setup will give four options to control lights. http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/h...a4d53e437b.jpg http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/h...8cb58328a4.jpg |
Re: Dual Dingo build thread-My first build thread great thread! usedful pics and info without being overboard picture happy! Could you go into a little more detail with the lights? maybe one quick post as to where you got them, what kind of (resistors?) are those? How do you connect them and what power source? I have long wanted to install my own LED's instead of buying kits, but i don't know anything about resistance and current/voltage for LEDs, afraid I would just burn up a bunch of lights! |
Re: Dual Dingo build thread-My first build thread This Will be my first time with LED's. I'll get into more details soon on the lights. I researched as much as possible and found that you need to a LED calculator, I used this one LED series parallel array wizard. You will use this once you decided on the LED's you will buy. I bought all 5mm LED's. Colors I bought where white, red and amber/yellow. I shopped eBay for my lights. There are many places to buy LEDs. Losikid here, sells LEDs but was out when I ordered mine. My budget for now is cheap. It won't be hard to upgrade lights later once I'm sure I know what I'm doing. Resistors, bought some on eBay and radio shack. Also got the mini toggles on eBay. I searched vendors from US to them quicker. My white LEDs are US made not from china. Not sure if it matters. Toggles switches, one switch will do head lamps and running lights on pushing switch forward, pushing back head lamps, running and bumpers lights will come on. Switch 2 will be , push forward for rock lights in the wheel well areas. Haven't decided on the forth function yet. Might be light bar if I get one. Power source will be castle BEC. BEC powers the servo only. i understand LEDS don't draw much of a load at all. I designed the lighting system on 6 volt power source since that's what my BEC is set. I'll try and post more info as I start the lights. Should be later this week or next. |
Re: Dual Dingo build thread-My first build thread If you have a multiple channel radio you could use this to turn lights on and off. Turnigy Receiver Controlled Switch |
Re: Dual Dingo build thread-My first build thread isnt that just a servo board with resitors where the pot is, and lights where thr motor is??? |

Re: Dual Dingo build thread-My first build thread Painted the grill and bezels tonight. I used Pactra black back, it's for the backing of paint on lexan bodies. Didn't want any gloss. Some shine is from the flash on first photo. You can see on one grill I got off gluing the strips. It'll be low behind bumper and lights. http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/h...ad13ab6536.jpg My lighting is from side. That's why one side appears darker. http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/h...0fa3de2b93.jpg |
