Default Honcho motor choice?

Just wondering what motors you guys are running in your rigs?

I have a 35T at the moment, which seems to be quite capable.

Wondering if anyone goes upto 40-55t motors?

What sort of GRU does the SCX10 have?

I'm running a 27t on 3s, geared 14/87. I would not want to go any slower.

45t hh torque master pro. Running on 3s with 12/87. I might jump to 14/87 though. The 12t is a touch too slow. Can't power out when stuck.

I think 35T is sweet spot for honcho, and this is coming from a 55t to a 45t to a 35t. Ive yet to 'need' faster. but the others were almost too slow at times.

I'd stick with the 35t motor, if your current motor is a cheaper one like an integy or a closed endbell motor, an upgrade to a quality handwound motor will make a big difference in regards to torque. I use 35t integy lathe motors cause they are cheap but I've run a 35t tekin handwound and there is a big difference.

I think a good 27 turn on 2s or 35 turn on 3s is a great combo all around. I run both combos on a few rigs. The 27 turn is on a lighter rig that runs large 1.9's and it is a fun trail basher. lacks a bit in the low speed compared to a 35 turn. The 35 turn works great and has a lot of finesse on the rocks. But I am not on the rocks all that often. Definite mixture of trails, dirt, mud, rocks etc. I find I like the 27 on the rig that is not on the rocks all the time. The extra top end and speed is more fun overall. I have a few rigs (5 scalers) and the ones meant for rocks keep a lower gear and 35 turns. My TTC rig has a 35 turn on 3s, but it is not enough over all speed. I am going to be upping that a bit to a good 30 turn or 27 turn or maybe even faster. Do not want to give up the low speed control though. Running a BRXL so it can take up to 6s, but motors that will handle it are hard to find (that will last more then 1/2 hour).

I've been running a Tekin 17.5 brushless on 2S lipo. Stock honcho axles with a rc4wd HD R2 tranny. Great low end and good top end.

I put in a Novak Ballistic 18.5 and loved it. I didn't get to use it much before I had to send it in, and still waiting on a call from them. I prob just got a funky one. I loved the motor though. My Honcho has been down for 2months though, so can't remember if I had good wheel speed...

I have a 45t lathe motor in mine that's fed by 3s lipo. I like the run times on the small 2250mah batteries I'm forced to run due to space limitations and the great low speed control. Wheel speed is plenty for what I do with the truck.
