Doubt it was salt ... Calcium Cholride ... that erm Stuff they spray on the roads ... Its instant rust. It'll eat through just about anything ... like Chrome bumpers ...

Still, it stinks that you have to replace so much ... any chance that they can be cleaned up??

We just had a nice snowstorm, and shortly after it began I found a nice parking lot with about an inch of snow to rip it up with my recently waterproofed Wraith... Well unknown to me was that before the snow started accumulating, the parking lot had been given a nice treatment of salt. Long story short, My Front axle bits (knuckles, c-hubs, axel shafts, etc.) at a minimum as well as my wheels may need to be replaced. After my truck dried out I found an abundance of rust and corrosion on alot of the undercarriage of the truck, so I will ned to buy a bunch of needed parts before spending on my Rubicon. It will get done, but likely not till Summer... :(
Turns out after closer inspection my wraith didn't need as much attention as I thought. The knuckles and chubs were ok for a few more miles, but all the hardware was frozen. I ended up replacing all four corners with vanquish stuff, so the jeep build will start soon. The faster I see the clear body (AX04033) actually for sale the sooner this build will start.

My first few pics of my "Crush Recovery" inspired build! And Holy cow is that orange HOT!! I used about 7 coats of Tamiya PS-7 Orange and backed it with 2 coats of PS-1 White. For the interior I used the overspray masking to protect what I wanted to stay orange, while removing what should be black, and painted the outside with PS-5 Black. I then detailed the interior with Axial interior stickers and decided to upholster my seats with some cushy velcro. The stock suspension links, tie rod, and drag link, as well as the Front and rear shackles, side mirrors, and Recovery boards are all currently being detailed with TS-12 Orange and were first primed with TS-27 Matte White. Pictures of those should be available installed tomorrow... Please let me know what you think, and if anyone has any clue How i can match my Locking rings to my orange please enlighten me. I ordered a bunch of Axial Orange locking rings, and started looking at orange suspension parts, but theyre all anodized aluminum, and I highly doubt they will be a close shade...

A few more teasers as the rest of the locking rings cure... Also painted the links and steering linkages, but we will see how long that paint holds up...

Nice! I saw yours when you first did it. I wanted to wait till I had a clear body to work with though. wanted to paint the inside... yours should get some good bare metal scratches though when the silver comes through!!!

Got in some orange anodized rings, but they really didn't match too well. Ended up using Rust-Oleum metal primer and orange laquor.. It was almost a perfect match, but I did start to notice my tamiya TS plastic paints really didn't bond as well as they could have to the axial plastics... Anyone know if there's a better brand that bonds to this plastic better?

That orange is sweet. I'm contemplating using KTM orange on my TJ build I just started, with black armor. Looking good brother!

Cool Re: "Crush Recovery" Build

A few more shots outdoors now that the wheels are done...
Working on a lightbar and reciever Hook next, but it might be a while..

I hope everyone likes my "build". Although I cannot really call it a build, because I really just painted stuff and bolted stuff on, unfortunately with recent budget cuts at home I wasn't able to really go all out on this build like I wanted to. Had to do it on the cheap. Still.... I think it came out pretty bad ass!

I agree. Which is what makes this build even better

What did you use to paint the beadlock rings? Does the Tamiya Polycarbonate work? Thinking about painting my beadlock rings with the same paint as what I used for the body..
