I run a traxxas 12t, but I don't know if that would do very good in the mud. If your mudding, your problably going to want something like a traxxas VXL 3s. (at least that's what I've seen people using)

No you would have to change the esc and motor but I run a cheap 15t motor for mud and gear it down a bit 18/87 on 2s stock esc and works great gives me good wheel speed to clean the boggers

Not gear down but up to get alittle more but you'll loose tq. try a 80t spur and keep an eye on your temps but it should work fine on 2s

I run a vxl on 2s with 1.9's and I own the mud. Plus with proper gearing on 1.9's I have ZERO cogging when crawling. Check this vid I'm the flat black SS silverado. TTC Challange RCC - YouTube

I run 32p gears with a 13/56 combo. It was geared with 13/58 but my punisher shaft hit so I had to drop the spur. It had a lot of wheel speed when I ran my 2.2's but did cog on some slow climbs but with 1.9's theres no clogging at all so I left the ratio alone. You saw how much wheel speed I had during the video and that was only on 2s@80 throttle setting on my controller with stock 1.9 flat irons. We don't have a lot of technical crawling here in florida but we do have a lot of sand, mud and hill climbs so I prefer wheel speed but still have plenty of low speed control when needed.
