| Rear Axle Questions
Hey everyone, I'm having a difficult time trouble-shooting a binding issue on a rear axle I'm putting together. First, the parts list:
Since first assembling the axle and pulling it back apart, I have shaved the inside of the axle tube so the lockouts slide on. It is still a bit tight, but not much tighter than the aluminum chubs when I assembled the front axle. In addition, I removed the paper gasket that goes between the ring gear and locker. Still, the mesh is too tight for my liking. Suggestions? Thanks in advance, Jon D. |

Are your lockouts on straight? I would imagine that would cause some binding.

Not sure. The play is fine until I slide the lockouts on. Maybe I'll try it w/o the beef tubes...

If you don't seat the inside pinion shaft bearing fully, it pushes the pinion into the ring gear, causing binding.

Does the 43/13 use a different size bearing on the gear side of the pinion?

I dremeled a bit more where the beef tubes seat on the end of the axle tubes. It is a little tight still, but no where near what it was. We'll see how it holds up.
