| Long vs short wheelbase
So there are Honcho and Rubicon with the long and the dingo with the short wheelbase. So which part determines the wheelbase because Links, Chassis Rail and Frame Brace are all the same parts? Maybe someone can explain this to me. THX! |

The Dingo has shorter links.

He's right but not specific enough I believe. The length of the upper links determines pumpkin angle. The length of the lower links determines wheel base.

^technically BOTH upper and lower links can control wheelbase and pinion angles, but essentially you could look at it the way you've specified. IIRC the shorter WB dingo has a shorter rear driveshaft as well - doesn't effect WB, but is a different part between the two. |

The front is exactly the same on all 3 models but its the rear shock hoop locations and links that make the difference in wheel base..Youll see extra holes drilled in the chassis where you can re-locate your shock hoops for a shorter wheel base on the honcho/rubicon or make the wheel base longer on a dingo.

Its saying you can make the wheel base shorter on the honcho/ rubicon or make it longer on dingo. .Not sure why its a different kit..Ive never used the kit so cant really say...the links are exactly the same size on all 3 models though on the front as well as the same shock hoop mounting location on the front; so maybe just an upgrade to the original kit they sold for the first gen models and advertised for the newer models? C'mon guys, read some. The front links aren't the same. Dingo kit has 91mm threaded aluminum tube lower links both front and rear. Honcho/Rubicon kits have 98mm threaded aluminum tube in front and 106mm threaded aluminum tube in rear. That is not the eye-to-eye length, just the aluminum threaded tube length. The RTR versions have plastic equivalent lengths. Top links are plastic out of the box for both kit and RTR.

I have a original SCX from long ago with one of the first hand bros cms set-UPS. The hand bros cms for the honcho has a different bracket that moves the servo forward for the 7mm difference on the honcho. I keep the front links in the dingo wheel base and extend the rear wheel base to what ever I need. I find the longer the rear links are the better it does in most situations.

Agreed about the longer links on the rear, makes for a better weight bias to climb. As far as which is better, longer vs. shorter wheelbase... it depends on setup and body. |
