Default Treys1's G6

Haven't posted any builds in a while and a few trucks have come and gone.

I figured a bunch of these G6's have popped up recently so I will keep mine simple at first and add the parts I think I am doing differently.

Other than that, I'll toss some pictures around......

So to get started, the standard issue parts list:

-G6 Kit
-Vanquish Links
-STRC C's and Knuckles
-Axial Lockouts
-Axial CVD's
-Axial Metal Trans Gearset
-Robinson "Wraith Supertuff" 80t Spur
-TMaxx Yokes and Shafts

-Mayhem Monsters (Delayed shipping (Standard Mayhem....))
-Proline TSL SX XL
-CI Deuces Wild Foams

-R2j Sliders

-Hobbywing Justock ESC
-Hobbywing v10 17.5t Motor
-Futaba BLS172SV
-Futaba R204GF-E
-CC BEC

I was able to get a few ounces in the front wheels using general purpose leaded solder. I wont be running wheel weight once the Mayhems come in:

And I used the battery tray as an electronics tray mounted low out back. The batteries are running in a saddle setup on the R2j sliders. I also left a bit of length in the Vanquish links at each rod end. I'm a big fan of stretching where you can and this was an easy way to get ~8-10mm extra overall wheelbase. I did have to leave out the front cross member since the servo was pushed up a bit, but fashioned to SS tube to keep the chassis from crushing in:

Are those 2.2 and do they rub the front fender?

The sliders are the best in the hobby. You should try them.

They are the 1.9 XL TSL's

They hit the front fender if they are fully stuffed to one side, but as far as I'm concerned the tires always rub a little because I like to run my trucks as low as possible and not take out too much up travel.

Sliders are awesome, as your stuff always is.

I just have to figure out how to keep the body from jumping out of them when I'm beating on the truck.

I always like your wiring very clean. Your jeep ran good Sunday. We will have to do a comparison once the tires are broken in.

Thanks!

All the trucks ran good aside from tires pretty much sucking in slightly moist ~30 degree weather.

Here you can see where I completely removed the front cross member to push the front axle out a bit. Used stainless tube as a brace up front.

Nice build! I always enjoy your builds, very clean work and everything is to the point. The tires arent as good as pitbulls in the wet but ive found it takes some time on them to get them working, also they need C.I. foams. How well does the hobbywing bl setup work?

Thanks!

I am running the new C.I. Deuces Wild foams and I am pretty happy with them.

I knew that the wet stuff was a downfall of the Proline G8 compound as I ran the 2.2's in the past. I will give them some more time to break in before abandoning them.

The Hobbywing setup was great! Silky smooth control even down low and I am currently working with them to make the setup that much better. I am testing a firmware now that has the reverse delay out and that should be public soon enough. I think once the firmware revisions are complete, a Hobbywing setup will be a viable option for scalers. Everyone that I ran with last weekend was very impressed.

I love these R2j sliders, but I was having an issue with the sides of the body jumping out of the "pockets" on them when I was getting rough with it.

I decided to use some 20 gauge wire and eyelets (crimped and soldered) that bolt to the bottom of the cage and then some little scale bungee cords to pull that down and attach to the holes in the frame. Should hold it down pretty good.
