Xr10 rear lockouts on scx10

I am in the process of tgathering parts to do the xr steering mod on my scx10.

I traded my vanquish stage 1 kit for a new xr10 axial aluminum stage 1 kit.

I will be using the c-hubs and knuckles, but can I use the rear lockouts? I traded my rear lockouts with the kit.

To do the XR mod on the rear, you need to run Wraith lockouts on the rear with (2) long side XR10 rear axle shafts ( good luck finding those ). That's if you are doing the XR width (wide) mod. Otherwise, you would just use SCX10 lockouts in the rear, XR ones won't work.

I want to keep the stock rear end, not doing the xr mod there. Just seeing if the xr rear lockouts work. Guess I gotta find some scx10 ones again then.

The xr rear lockouts will narrow the track width I used them to narrow the rear axle on my class 1 jeep.





To make the rear axle wider you would need to use wraith lockouts.

If they fit, i may just use them and deal with the narrower rear axle

I narrowed the rear shafts too. I had narrowed the front already so they are about even now. It's less than 7" wide at the outside of the tires. You can see the ruler in the pic.

Yes, they are both 1/2" narrower than stock scx. I did the front using xr10 shafts and wraith knuckles and chubs.

Sorry to ask so many questions, but how'd you manage to do the XR mod and make the track narrower?

I'm following this "narrow" version but it still adds 1/2" to the width

I do have my stock plastic lockouts from the wraith axles that could add rear width to the track to match the "narrow" front axle

I'll have to take pics, I machined down the chubs and shortened the housing ends and used beef tubes.

You can make the axle stock width with the xr mod as well. Just trim the chubs down.

If I'm not mistaken he used a set of "TRUE SCX10 WIDTH SPLINE TUBES" from BmachineRC.

I'll be posting these up in the "New Products" thread shortly.

They achieve a true SCX10 stock width using Wraith chubs and knuckles

They do require some machining of the Wraith chubs, but i will be offering them as a package. (Tubes and machined chubs)

Nope this jeep has regular beef tubes. I made this axle before I won those from BDN. This axle in my black jeep is narrower than stock.
