That radio is nice but a bit more than I wanted to spend on a radio. I don't think I need the AVC system or those high tech features. Any one else have any input? I don't feel like I get much response out of this thread based on how many people view it haha.

I have a 4PLS and a hacked FlySky and like them both a lot. Can't go wrong either way for a crawler. Quote:
If you care about performance over scale looks, take the Kings. I run them in my Wraith and they do great. I was fairly unimpressed with the performance of the RC4WD ultimate scale shocks in my TF2, and Superlifts are basically the same shock. They look great, but they aren't as adjustable and won't perform as well as the Kings. Two other good options are the Axial Icons, which do very well in my SCX10, and the Gmade Piggybacks, which do great in my R1 Frankenstein. Last edited by new2rocks; 11-08-2014 at 06:14 AM. | ||

Hacked Flysky FS-GT3C then take the rest of the money you would have wasted on a Futaba and get more battery packs!

I owned many Futaba radios. Since starting back in 1987. But bang for buck they cant beat a hacked FlySky

How does one " hack " a radio haha? I don't have much experiance with different radios I've always usually used what was given. More Progress: A package showed up today from Scaler Fab with my rock sliders. Troy does some awesome work, the quality is amazing. These will be great pertection for my rig. I'd definitly recommend these to anyone! Also, I built a front steering link and started maching up the front axle. Still need to make the suspension links for the front. |

Looks good. I have the same CMS plate. I mounted the electronics box and esc on top of the plate and turned the battery sideways across the frame rails right behind it. Leaves the whole back of the chassis empty. Hate to see you not use those nice aluminum plates you fabbed up and painted though.

Thanks! I didn't want to get too crazy moving things around and I kinda like it all being close so I don't have wires running everywhere. All I did in the back was put two thin peices of aluminum over and under the existing plastic cross memeber so I had something to hold the exhaust pipe in place. problem I am facing now is how to mount a winch up front. I think if I raise the battery up a few millimeters I can squeeze in a servo winch.

More Progress: I Purchased a Traxxas Intellegent 4-Channel radio to run my 2wd/4wd switch on and also the top 3 pos. switch will be for a winch when I get one. I love the way they used blue tooth to control the trims and end points of the throttle and steering channel but that was also their downfall, only the first two channels. Currently working up a method to put a very short throw on the servo that switches 2wd/4wd. Have parts on the way! Also I have done a lot of work on the body to make it more realistic. I painted the tool box, front grille and the rear bumper and made up some scale dodge tow mirrors out of wood. Edit: Almost forgot, I also made and polished up the front links but the angle binds slightly so I might pick up a set of driveshafts. First made them out of foam to get an idea. Those mirrors came out awesome. You might can use some a/c ducting tape for the actual mirror part.

Everything's coming together nicely! One thing(top pic on this page).... is the front axle pitched downward/forward too much?..like you might need shorter upper links. Looks like the steering link might hit on things and the tires might plow. Then again it could just be the pic.

Slow1500, the front axle links had not been made at that point so the axle was only held on by the steering link and the shocks. It's much higher now that it's all hooked up. Thanks for the positive feedback!

More Progress: I've finally found the sweet spot on the servo throw for the dig unit and 2wd/4wd works like a charm! Did a few tests with it and I couldn't be happier. Next step is to upgrade the suspension and fine tune it a bit. I feel like I want to give it a little more height and have better articulation but nothing crazy. One of the stock shocks is already gushing oil. Still thinking but stuck between scale-ness vs. functionality. Either superlift for scale or king shocks for function. Also soon to come are rims and tires and driveshafts due to slight bind. Enjoy! |
