Default Why BRXL, how does it comparing with an AE2?

I am running an AE-2 with a 35T motor with 2S.

So I have seen a lot of good points about BRXL, just want to know if it is worth to get one.

My rig:

7.5lb SCX10
AE-2 (custom made water proof)
10 A CC bec
15KG servo
Pit Bull RB 1.9
CI 2 stage foam
2S battery

As I got my AE-2 water proof (with sealant just like the BRXL) and I have been running my SCX like submarine without any problem.

On the other hand, I only use 70% drag brake so my rig can be decent from a steep slope without locking my wheels so Holmes hold is not a selling point for me.

Any comment on AE-2 and BRXL will be appreciated

Why not a Mamba Max Pro? Then you can go sensors brushless when the desire hits.

Thanks for your comment, I am not sure how does the sensor-ed system work under water. As I know, only sensor-less brushless works under water, but the low speed control is not smooth enough for crawling

I am running a sensored 2800kv MMP in both my 4x4x4 Wraith and my SCX-WRATH. The low end is as good as a brushed.

Yes, I know only sensor-ed will run smooth as a brushed. But do you go under water?

If you waterproofed your ae2 you can waterproof a mmp/sensored brushless setup. Epoxy and dielectric grease.

Surprised nobody has mentioned it can take from 2s to 6S!

If you are happy with your current setup, why upgrade?

Do you think about running on 3S (which I think everybody should when using brushed motors in scalers)?

I have 4x BRXL, 1x SV3 and 1x WP AE-2 and while driving I really can't tell any difference between them. Except that I can run my Wraith with 4S. All use TRX Titan 21t motors.

Edit: FYI, Sv3 runs on 3S no problem, and I've also run my AE-2 with CCBEC using 3S with zero problems.

The ae2 is already a high quality esc aside from the fact that it's unable to run 3s without an external bec. The newer scx10s come with the ae5, which is not as high quality. I ordered a brxl just tonight to replace the ae5 , along with their cheaper crawler motor.

For someone in your situation considering you already have an external bec I wouldn't bother with the Holmes esc. I would however look into their motors as I've heard great things

I wonder how to waterproof a sensored motor.

Norton, yup I am aware of that , however I would like to power my rig with 2S

Thanks for your input Ambis, you have the point, I am happy with my AE-2 with 2S, considering it can run 3S with an external ubec which I already have, I don't think HH brxl is necessary for my purpose. BTW, what motor do you run on 3S? For SCX 10.

Thanks!

Yes SoCal Crawlr, the AE-5 which is similar to Hobbywing product is much cheaper than the AE-2 and not tune-able as the AE-2.

Haven't thought about their motor yet. It sounds interesting, please let me know about that!
