| SCX10 Options
I am very confused between all the different SCX10 models available. Axial's website doesnt really explain the differences too well. Can anyone shed some light on the basic differences between them? I noticed some have the battery upfront and some in the back. People say the deadbolt is more of a basher. Not sure what the dingo is. Then there are the jeeps, the falken, the Rubicon, the C/R. Are they all the same and just a body difference. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

The wheelbase is the main difference. Then the battery mounting, and finally some have 3 link suspension and others have 4 link. The parts are there to re-locate the battery, to convert to 4 link, and have the extra links to change the wheelbase.

It looks like the included ESC is different as well.

They are all different wheel bases and "ages" if you like. Therefore some of the newer releases have better options included in the rtr, in particular the electronics. Put simply - The dingo has the shortest wheel base at 11.4" then the deadbolt at 12" and then the honcho at 12.3". Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

So which are the ones with the battery up front? Is the only differentiating factor for the Falken the tires? Whats so special about the tires? Also, why do most people consider the deadbolt more of a basher? does it go faster? For the Wrangler Kit, is the battery mounted upfront? Ther G6 C/R is the battery upfront? Harley's $50 SCX10 Deadbolt Budget Build They are all bashers....LOL! The Deadbolt is a great one to start with for the money. Stock tires don't really matter either, you will probably change them out anyways to another better tire if you are gonna get serious about crawling. | |

Almost all the information you're asking for is on the individual kit/RtR pages. Just looking at the pictures will answer some of them and a little reading or scrolling through the manuals will answer nearly all the rest. If you tell us which specific kit's/RtR's you're considering it will help. Asking us to post all the details and variations between all nine SCX10 models is somewhat annoying when the information is readily available on the Axial web site. Information on a couple of models is fine, but to list all the differences between each model is asking a lot. Simply put, the SCX10 comes in three different wheelbase models, 11.4", 12.0" and 12.3". Each may or may not have different features like: Heavy Duty WB8 or standard WB8 drive shafts, single or dual pad slipper, 48 or 32 pitch gears, Icon shocks or plastic shocks, aluminum or plastic upper/lower links, 3-link or 4-link upper links, some have light bars/buckets included others don't, some have bead-lock wheels other don't. But any of these options/upgrades and the battery relocation can be installed or implemented on any of the SCX10 models and the wheelbase can be changed if/when you buy a new/different body. The Falken tires are just tires, they have a different tread patter compared to the Maxxis Trepador and Ripsaw, but they're all decent tires for a crawler. Ignore the "basher" comment, it's pointless to label any one SCX10 more "basher" oriented when the features are nearly identicle to the other non-basher SCX10's. The Power Wagon, Deadbolt and G6 Falken are nearly identicle, but the Power Wagon and Trail Honcho appear to have the battery mounted up front. Battery location with a kit is up to you, it's a kit that you build and as such you can decide on where the battery goes while you're building or later if you change your mind. Although some bodies will dictate location unless you're willing to trim the body. The G6 Wrangler kit (#AX90034) appears to have the battery up front, the Wrangler Rubicon kit (#AX90027) seems to have it in the rear, but either can be changed if you like. |

The Rubicon RTR comes with all the pieces to move the battery forward as well.

JWalker, the deadbolt (green is scx10) body is Axial's own design and therefore cheapest; $270 gets you a RTR from RPPHobby and they help support this website. If you're interested in getting started, check the link below for more info.

It seems the Falken and the deadbolt (SCX10) are very similiar. The only differences I can see are the body, the shocks, and the tires. The specs, according to the website, are identical. Whats the deal - anything else I should know?

The Falken (#AX90036) and Deadbolt (#AX90044) actually have the same shocks as well. Looks like the only differences between them are the tires and body, everything else looks the same.

| Re: SCX10 Options Yeah, pretty much the same as the other two. The battery is up front on the Power Wagon, but aside from that it's just a body and tire change. It's costs $60 more than the Deadbolt and $10 more than the Falken.

If you plan to do a lot of changes, I recommend the Deadbolt because it is the lowest price. Remember, the difference in price in SCX10 RTRs is usually due mostly to licensing fees for Officially Licensed bodies, tires, shocks, logos, light bars, etc. and additions like light controllers. They are all essentially the same truck, so get what you want and enjoy. You can't go wrong.
