| Harley's $50 SCX10 Deadbolt Budget Build $50 / Week Time for a new series! This is going to be another "Budget Build" but not in the typical use of the phrase. Instead of the cheapest parts, I set a specific budget and upgrade the truck with that amount every week. I've used this format before, when the Poison Spyder Wraith was released, and it was hugely sucessful in terms of views, interaction and feedback. So we start again! This Budget Build will be done with the same dollar amount as I used before, $50 a week. Anything that doesn't get spent that week, carries over to the next week. Now that amount is high for a lot of people, but it's not like anyone would have to do the upgrades weekly. I just do it to keep the build moving and keep it interesting. It really adds up and soon the truck turns into something pretty cool. Videos will be posted every THURSDAY. The first one will be tonight/tomorrow and will simply be an introduction in to the build. No mods as of yet. I'll use this thread to keep all the info in one place! I'll track prices, keep the videos all in one place, and discuss what the future plans are to come. The PS Wraith build was cool, I look forward to seeing where this ends up. Do you have an idea of what this truck is going to be (trail, rocks, G6, all-purpose truck) or just going to see how it unfolds during the build? Last edited by svt923; 11-05-2014 at 11:30 AM. |

| Re: Harley's SCX10 Deadbolt Budget Build The goal is to make the truck a capable crawling rig, but has to be a convenient trail rig. Meaning that it has to have the ability to carry a decent size battery and be efficient with it's battery usage. For example, I will likely not do both under and over drive gears because of the amount of resistance it adds to the drivetrain. I'll likely just go with underdrive in the rear at some point.

how many weeks will determine this budget build's spending limit ? 52 weeks in a year = $ 2,600. spent. where's the budget in that ? Lol I'll still follow... despite my sarcasm |

Like I said, nowhere in the description do I say I'm trying to keep it cheap. The purpose is just to determine a path of upgrades that hopefully keeps the truck dependable the entire time while making it as capable as possible during that same time period. | |

I like the idea, I spend about $50 every two weeks, as my budget. Definitely makes for slow building.

Awesome! I was just re-watching some of the PS wraith budget videos and wishing there was something similar for the SCX10!

Looks Interesting, I enjoyed following the Poison Spyder Wraith so the SCX Deadbolt should be cool.
