Default C/R Jurassic Park Edition v. Build Thread

I figured I'd start a build thread (RTR is kind of cheating, I know) for new SCX10 project.

Jurassic Park is one of my all time favorite movies, and when I stumpled across this wrap on Ebay, I couldn't resist. I had planned on getting the Ram all along, but this changed my mind at the last minute. This is what I've got so far. The vinyl is tricky (espicially on this scale), but I don't think the imperfections will be as noticeable once the body gets a little banged up and dirty.

I'm going to be painting the rims read and the roll cage brown. I've got a few things planned for the interior as well. I'm going have to recruit my girl friend's sewing hand for that phase of the build. As for performace mods, I don't have a whole lot planned. I have a 45T motor waiting on pinions, and my aluminium steering kit is to be installed soon. I figure I'll upgrade other things as they break. That's usually how I go about it. I also got a 2S 7600mah Lipo for it. I do a lot of hiking, I figure a pack of that size should go for a good amount of time.

I can't decide whether or not to keep the fender flares.

Awesome decal! I would keep the fender flares. Where did you get the decal sheet? Subscribed and waiting for progress.

I got it on Ebay.

Axial SCX10 Rubicon or CRC Edition Body Graphic Wrap Skin Jurassic | eBay

My only complaint is that it was short a door-hinge and handle set (you can see that in the decal sheet). I used the hinges meant for the hood and windshield on the left-side doors and I was able to steal the door handle meant for the trunk.. so in the end, I'll only be down one door handle.

The seller was good and it only took six days to get here (I'm located in CT) even though the shipping estimate was for 16 days or something like that.

So I did a little more work on the truck last night. I removed all the electronics so I could relocate everything at the end of the build. I moved the battery up front, 4-linked the front end, threw in a 45T motor, and did an aluminium steering upgrade. I did a little bit to the truck's interior as well. I painted all the white parts grey and added some decals. It's subtle, but I think it looks a lot better than it did. I still plan on adding some fabric to the seats and painting the rims and roll cage.

All in all, I am happy with the way it's coming along.

Last night I put the first few coats of red on the wheels. I started the rollcage as well, but didn't take a picture. I also got my driver in as well. He fits good.

So I got most of the exterior completed after work today. I need to neaten up the tires a bit, but that'll be easy. Upon reassembly, I realized I forgot the side mirrors (doh!). I still need to get the driver held down as well. He's just free floating at the moment. Pretty much all I have left is getting the electronics in order.

Please don't mind the dining room work station. I recently moved and haven't finished my work area yet.
