SCX10 stock gearing ??????????

Hi, I just bought a new SCX10 with the Dodge Ram body.
I wanted to put on a smaller pinion gear so It would crawl
better. I figured stock was 20/87 like my buddies Honcho.
So I was going to throw a 17 on it.
When I took the dust cover off the tranny I saw it has a 13
tooth pinion from the factory. What's up with that ?

Different pitch gearing... Your buddy has 48 pitch gears. You have 32 pitch.
In order to lower your gearing you want to go down to 10 or so teeth

Does anyone know how large of a 32p spur gear will fit under the
stock dust cover on an SCX-10 ? Thanks

I've fit a 60 tooth under the SCX10 and Wraith covers without a problem, at 62 teeth you're likely to rub the gear on the cover. These were Team Associated gears, but all 32 pitch gears should be nearly the same diameter as long as the tooth count is the same.

If your motor has a 1/8" shaft you can get Robinson Racing pinion gears all the way down to 9 tooth, gives you a few more options with gearing.
