Default Maximizing run time

I have been researching how to maximize run time, and it seems going to a higher turn motor will give more run time. I know that also means my rig will be slower. I will be running 2s and was thinking of giving the 55t a try. I don't want to spend $50+ on a motor until I have an idea of what the performance is.
Currently, when trailing, about half throttle will give me a good walking pace. It appears that on stock gearing, a 55t would be full throttle, and even then a little slow. Which case is better for run time? If I gear up a 55t or gear down a 27t, will the result be the same? Do I have to just try it and see for myself?

This is much easier in the nitro world lol.

I switched from an axial 27t to a hh30t and I got more run time. However I also changed my bearings and packed the axial housings with grease. Pulled the transmission and changed the bearing and regreceed the gears.

45T would be about 50% fast as a 27T based on RPMs and a 35T would be about 30%.

You may not like this, especially if you want to get wet, but I ran about 4 hrs or so on a 2200 3s cheapo turnigy battery last time out. I am using a 21.5 turn speed passion touring car motor with MMP. Can't remember pinion, stock axle gears, stock spur. This turning the 5.4" proline tsl's. Doesn't have neck snapping torque, or blinding speed, but it works good except when it gets wet.

If running 2s I would get a 35t motor.Integy crawler motors can be had for under $25.RPP has HackMoto crawler motors for $22.Just put one in my rig and am happy with performance.

Yeah man, me with a light 1.9 truck with a 35 turn motor and 2S 1100 would get an easy hour trailing around with the bros.

The whole package matters though. I had a light truck, clean and in good shape, 200 oz servo, in good shape motor and good (shape) batteries. I'm light on the throttle.

Keep things clean and lubed, free spinning, drive like a grandma and run times go long. And have three small batteries.

It can also depend on what type of mah rated bettery you are using that will help as well as a higher turn motor. something like 5000-7500 mah will last 1-2 on a single battery. The cars in this video ran all day. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zTMCPEzhwtI

Days of constant running?

My old 5000 would last literally all day. It was stupid. Driving with a huge brick for no reason other than making the truck heavy and poor handling.

I run a 6400mah brick, on a fairly heavy rig, 6+ hours easy. I average 750-1000mah an hour with a 35t motor and driving like a grandma.
Good drive line angles are a good idea, good bearings, well lubed axles/gearbox.

I am running a 4000mah and use about 1200-1500/hr. My rig is all stock, maybe I should grease and lube everything first. Then maybe some upgraded bearings to smooth things out. I may try the Axial 55t on 3s, just to see how it goes. I have a bunch of 3s 2200's from my helis and planes.

My 5000mah 2s pack in my SCX10 is good for 2-3 hours of crawling, that's with a 30t motor and stock 20/87 gears and I'm moderately heavy on the throttle. I wouldn't go higher than a 35t motor.
