Cool. I have one too. I remember them being the bee's knees way back in the olden days of r/c rock crawling.

I have a funny feeling that things are not as they should be inside the little electric box with gears.

That's a little loosey goosey. Is it just the gears or is it completely dead?

It's fried, let out the magic smoke. Gears went first, I kept driving to try and finish the trail. With one rock section to go it went poof. So I fished the gears off by hand. It was not a new servo by any means. This is the third truck I have had it in, and I got it second hand to begin with.

I'll probably steal from my Dlux super lites to get this going again, since it is doubtful there will ever be a comp scene down here again.

Hey Dicky, it is nice to see someone else who actually uses their Vanquish Curried crawler to actual crawl! We have some guys who only want to run theirs on the easiest of surfaces because they do not want them to get dinged up... I call it character.

What gearing are you running for your pinion/spur? I am about to go brushless as well and it looks like you have a really good combination of slow crawling and a little bit higher speed as well. I have a MMP/Pro4 3300kv setup in my Bomber and have been looking at either the Holmes BLE/3500kv 540 or a MMP/Roc412 3100kv combination for the SCX, I just do not know where to start with gearing to have the flexibility that you have. Thanks

I love beating on my curries, and I agree with the character aspect completely! I am allergic to shelf queens though. I see it this way, who spends the cash on full size rock jocks, which are quite spendy just to drive on the highway? They are built to be used!

My combo is mmp with 3100kv roc412, my pinion/spur is 13/58 32p. I have UD gears rear, and standard ratio HD front. Currently running 5000mah 3s, but that is soon to drop to 2200mah as upcoming changes to layout will prevent the large brick from being used.

I got my GSPEED flush mount skid installed. This is a really nice piece, and the gspeed aspect of Old Skool is complete! I do have a few other changes coming too that I am really excited about. More about that when all the parts are here. It is not all direct bolt on, so I will have some measuring and figuring of things out. But it will work, it has too!

Sneak peak of one of the changes in store:

My BentMetal truggy cage showed up today! Time to paint it and hack up the newer of my 56 Ford bodies.

Next week starts a breakdown and big changes!

The cage and body are sorted, time to take it all apart for reconfiguration!

Time to let the cat out of the bag! I've been hinting at a 'reconfiguration' of Old Skool for a few weeks now. Tonight I stripped it down and got started.

I'll post more progress as the week continues. This seems like a good stopping point for the night.

Made some great progress on my "ToySpeed" tonight! Thank you ToyZuki for your insight and GSPEED for offering me a team and design position!

I still have some figuring out to do up front, I have a clearance issue with the VP CMS and the spur gear, but these things will be resolved in the gen2 GSPEED-LCG chassis, and I will make it work with this one.

Full compression, the motor can is close to the drive shaft, but clears.... Barely!

Tight up top too, but clearance is clearance.

And this will have me scratching my head a little, I need about 6mm. For now I'll probably just drill holes and move the mount forward. Things to resolve in chassis gen2.

Made an extra hole in the chassis and moved the cms forward 1 hole on the front. Temporary solution, but will give me a driveable rig!

Not at all, shocks hit full compression with about 1mm to spare. It is closer than with the CMS where it belongs, but it all clears.

Edit: less than a mm, more like a hair, but clearance is clearance!

I have an scx10 with similar issues: no flex, no steer. Thinking about one of the new chassis out there, haven't decided between tss or gspeed. Just hoping that all my accessories will swap over without getting out the dremel tool

All of mine did before I decided to do the ToyZuki setup on my gspeed. I knew going in this would require modification though. The ToyZuki mount alone requires cutting of output shafts, plus it is not designed for this chassis.
