| Transmission blowin, whats good to replace with?
I do alot of hill climbing and I was going up a rocky hill full speed kinda bouncing ,and blew somthing in the transmission case I assume is the idle gear but I figure I'll change all three along with the front different gears for a higher top speed , my front diff also seems tight so maybe also what help ruin the transmission

There is no high speed conversion for the scx trans. Replace the gears with HR from rpphobby.com and change your pinion & spur ratio for more top speed.

Change them out with robinson racing gears along with a robinson racing spur gear.

Hot Racing has a fully metal scx trans that is pretty decent for the price, or go with a super shafty unit for bomproof... but I think even they use some HR parts.

Having owned about every incarnation of scx transmission from stock to supershafty built bombproof the best bang for the buck is an HR case and steel gears with supershafty input and outputs, their ultimate motor plate and a slipper assembly for a traxxas slash. It's half the price of a prefabricated bomb proof and just as tough with what I consider a superior slipper since you can change the spur to something other than 56 tooth.

I have bought countless HR full metal trans for the $90 mark that are still going strong. They have held up in all of my big truck builds (10-32lbs). The heaviest being a 32lbs 8x8 and sever 12-16lbs trucks. They are well worth the $90 and there is not a better deal out there by the time you piece one together. I do swap the metal spur for a plastic spur that RC4WD sells for their AX2 transmission. 32 pitch and bolts right up, also they go up to 66 tooth. Last edited by Szczerba; 09-13-2016 at 07:12 PM. I agree with all of the above however the duratrax 32p 56t spur gear is good idea to keep you from distroying anything else. The duratrax spur gear is very tough and cheep. It's for a nitro evader. 149 r/c worx team driver Last edited by snapon boy; 09-13-2016 at 07:25 PM. |

I've ran Robinson racing, axial and HR trans gears. All hold up great, my recent transmission build was using a steel gear set that was $25 from eBay and they have bevel cuts instead of straight cuts to eliminate drivetrain slop. I have no idea what brand they are and I'm running a Robinson racing 32p slipper set up on a roc412 3s lipo. My steel spur set up is just as quiet as my plastic spurs.
