| McFly's Yota for axial fest
So this has been a bit of weird year for me, things didn't go according to plan but that did allow for me to some things I wouldn't have been able to do...for example Axial Fest. My buddy Dean, known to most as chino63, has invited me to come to Axial Fest with him for many of years now. With the way things went down this year, I had a bunch of wedding money that wasnt going to be used for a wedding so I decided I take him up on his offer. Its been years since I been to the west coast and I am looking forward to seeing my west coast buddies, playing toy trucks, and wheeling in Deans 1:1 FJ40 cruiser. Being this is an Axial event, I needed an axial truck...one would think with all the cwarlers I have in my addiction...I mean collection...id have such an axial based vehicle but believe it or not I didn't have something that met the requirements. Insert this purchase Naturally I couldn't leave it as it was sooooo after many of orders to shapeways, a new body and a ton of other goodies I finally had something to start putting together first up was some advice from Dean, he recommended Id keep it light and had a working winch Starting with some RC4WD new plastic D44s I decked them out with Aluminum Cs, knuckles, pan hard mount, diff covers ETC through them under the truck, with new RPP hobbies wheels painted to look like McFlys truck my original plan was opening hood and Knight Customs engine and all of that good stuff but I have unfortunately ran out of time I was having some issues originally as I wasn't sure if the engine bay was meant for the scx10 or the scx II. I know they say the grill can be mounted to it so that was part of why I opted for a new body and I also went with Vanquish front shock mounts to insure my engine bay was in the correct spot quick test fit yielded things were coming together Since Dean said a winch is necessary, I went with this cool mount from BowHouseRC...the down side was I couldnt use my knight customs drop bed...bummer but for the sake of being competitive ill rock the bed as is. So I was pretty bad at taking more pics but this is where I am now I polished the lenses, then used Tamiya clear on them and when they dried it hit them with a Sharpee marker. I also ordered a buncha goodies from RC Nerds shapeways store so youll notice the TOYOTA badge on the grill I added RC4WD rubber TF2 Mirrors, RC Nerds wipers, door handles, and tail light housings and lenses Probably one of the coolest parts, the rear window trim molding and slider I got an order in with RPP today for a HeyOk winch, aluminum rear SCX10 II bumper mount, CI Foams, CChand rear view mirror and some links to shorten up the wheel base in the front a tad bit gonna throw together a quick interior using goodies from RC Nerds, got the dash and door panel goodies painted up and will be installing them this weekend. time permitting ill try and mount some Dinky seats in it as well Electronics: Savox 347oz servo using BowHouseRc servo and battery mount Hobbywing QuicRun 1080 waterproof 80 AMP crawler ESC Castle BEC Homles Hobbies 27 turn crawlmaster motor More to come, thanks for looking -Mike |

Nice! I see your roll bar sticks up a bit like mine too. I suppose its good to protect the body. I really wanted to preserve an actual working (rear) bumper on mine but ITT it requires metal fabrication. We can meet up next month at Axialfest PM me your camp site # |

| Re: McFly's Yota for axial fest ask and you shall receive... Got the the door panels all painted up and assembled, I did the 2 different color grays and I even flocked the bottoms like a real SR5 would have got the dash assembly partly together, I tried printing the dash stuff from RC Nerds thread but I cant figure out how to size it ? |

Glued the dash in before I left for work today, had to get some clear packing tape this morning to laminate over the printed dash, heater controls, and 4wd shift pattern. Added head lights, tail lights, rock lights, Juggsterr fair lead, and Rouge Elements license plate Couple of outside pics before it goes in a box and is mailed out to Dean/Chino63 to wait for my arrival in attending axial fest. |

| Re: McFly's Yota for axial fest Originally I was going to swap them out for some RPP hobby aluminum roll bar lights that I have but my good buddy Dean actually has an LED light bar, a very bright legit one, so we are going to put that in when I get there. It has a Tamiya light controller in it so I can add lights to it easily.

So for not doing any testing at all, this rig worked pretty damn well at Axial fest. I have some changes and improvements to make but for the most part it was pretty solid. The rear bumper was broken in shipping, lucky for me RPP Hobby was on site and had a Knight Customs bumper in stock The bad news was it survived only half a trail it would appear that with the aluminum rear scx10II mount I added to the scx10 frame its just so rigged and with the set screw in place it literally snapped the one post in 2 spots... Maybe it would have been better if it was in a factory plastic mount that has some give but either way Ive decided I am just going to build one out of metal Here are some of my favorite pics from the event |

| Re: McFly's Yota for axial fest yeah it may have been a light switch according to badger...However badger made a very generous donation in the form of a tekin brushless system so I going to get that problem solved the quicrun ESC isnt bad but its just not that smooth and I also like to smash the trigger like im smashing the peddle in my chevelle |
