Default TJ's Budget SCX10.2 Build

Hello all, I am awaiting the delivery of my RTR SCX10.2!!

I plan to do this build in the sprit of Harley but with a twist. I am only going to spend 25.00 dollars a week on upgrades and what not.

on 8/18/2016 I was informed that Tower had limited stock of SCX10.2's. I wasn't looking to buy a RTR but I'd rather have had the kit. With that being said I wasn't able to get the kit and ordered the RTR to see how it does with the steel links and older legacy transmission.

Looking forward to building this rig and making it my own!!!

Thanks for reading

This'll be interesting, going to keep an eye on this.
Will you be doing the YouTube thing as well like Harley? or just here on the forums?

Got to take the SCX10 II out of the box last night, went over some nuts and bolts threw a 3s 3300mah pack it and headed out to one of my favorite spots.

Right out of the box this rig is very impressive, even the S30 tires seemed to work as well as the R35 set I have on my Ascender. Steel suspension and steering links are a nice addition to the RTR Rig and as usual the RTR shocks seem to leave something to be desired. One thing I see as an issue are the front bumper and the ball mount on the rear bumper. I will remover the Ball Mount before the next run but need to think about a new front bumper as the stock one limits approach angles.
I don't plan on adding any mods this week so my Scx10.2 account will have $50.00 going into next week.

Front bumper is a must. The stock one is an aircraft carrier.

The best budget option is the AX80039A. Fits GREAT, and protects the front grille area very well. Much better approach angle. The only con is that a bumper mounted winch will be tough to fit.

I'm still looking for a better rear bumper for mine. I want something that hugs the body VERY closely. It needs serious help with the departure angle.

Do you have a picture of this mounted?

Yup, here it is.

Please note I have a fake winch mounted. A real winch would stick out at least another 1/4" or more.

That part number comes with a couple of light buckets as well. It's a great deal.

Not to sidetrack this thread, but I just purchased this front bumper because of this pic. I see they also sell a matching rear. I wonder if it fits as well.

I'm very interested in this bumper and am thinking I'm going to pick one up also. Can one of you two post a picture from the side as well?

I may also pick up the rear to see if it works also. It's part number AX80039B. Eventually I would like to end up with metal bumpers and side rails; but, for the price, these Axial Bumpers may work out well.

Opinions on how the R35 compound differs from the RTR version. I know they're better. Wondering how noticeably different they are. I will be adding new rubber when I get new rims. Thinking about these in R35 as one of the main options.

I have both the RTR tires and the R35's from a kit. The RTR tires do work well but the R35's beat them right out of the box. Of course it's not apples for apples as the kit tires are mounted on fanquish wheels and have CI foams...
