| Picked up an SCX10.2 Kit...Ford 2017 Raptor.
Picked up the Kit. Stopped by my LHS for a hobby knife..Well..after finding out someone laid away a kit and decided to go with a bomber instead..I left the LHS that day with a brand new kit build. Didn't get any build photos or anything as I figured enough of stock kit builds have been documented. First up here's a photo of it put together on the bench. Stole the Elecs out of my older scx. AE-2 esc (still works great from box stock honcho 5 years back), Spektrum DX4C and 410 receiver/ Team Orion Method 20T lathe, savox 0251MG, and it's currently ran off 2s. Noticed the front tires didn't fill the fenders properly, the tires were to close to to door side of the fender. added 3 little 3mm Spacers I had laying around to bring the front axle forward enough as to not bind up the CMS or 3 link. Also shaved up the bumper posts and drilled new holes. Was time to get it out side to feel out the new designed chassis. Tossed on my boggers to really see the difference between my modded scx and box stock 2.0 And the difference is HUGE. Axial knocked it out the park with this one. All I really want to change right now is the shock oil. 30w is a bit too light, and I'm not a fan of bouncing. I'm thinking to stepping to some 50-60w. Few days later I took the new rig out to a little meetup in Elkton Oregon. Almost an oops moment. I really gotta say. The new SCX is sweet. It just does work. Can't wait 'till something breaks so I can start upgrading. Next post...More raptor. I'm a hardbody kinda guy, and jeeps just don't do it for me. Thanks for looking! |

Okay..So back for an update. I picked up this raptor hardbody last christmas from a walmart. Stuck it on my SCX at the time. Was going for that mall crawler street queen look, but decided I wasn't a fan... I never really ran this body on the older scx as I could never get it to sit low enough and still preform. Well that's where axials new design came in. After building and fiddling with the '00 Xj. I decided this body would work out for now. Cut into the bed a bit so I could get it to sit low enough where I want it. then made up some body mounts using two pieces from the proline light bar, an old steering bar, and two axial spare post mounts. Also used two aluminum bumper posts from a cheapy integy bumper set to mount my rear bumper (still need to cut the old mounts off,) also filed a groove into the bottom, and drilled a hole in the top to hang axials plastic hitch. after I got the raptor set and bumpers on around where I wanted them, I decided to mod up a 645mg servo and utilize the chassis's mounting location for a servo winch. Works great Lifts my 16 pound wraith up off the floor with ease. Used 4 metal ball ends as spacers to lift the servo and thimble high enough to clear the upper front link. Really like this little setup, Tossed an older rc4wd winch on there to be the dummy, also used the front bumper out of the integy set, cut the stinger off and just tacked on a simple front bar to keep from bashing in my grill. Going to make something new for the front soon, just haven't decided which way I wanna go with it. So here it is, As it sits on my bench, Tossed it on my proline 4.3 swampers, Thinking I'm going to pick up a set of either those PBX alien compound pitbulls or a set of growlers. |

Also while I'm at it, I got a wild hair up my butt, decided I wanted to make up a kargo master style rack, it's bit heavy, so i'm not sure it'll even get used. But I do like it. started off with just a bent bar... Then made the rear legs, and upper rails. The just kinda fell into a groove, forgot to take any photos... so here it is, tossed together. Looks killer on the truck...but I'll have to play with things If I plan to run the rack. Thanks for looking, Comments and suggestions, criticism, all welcome. Take it easy. |

Cool ride, are a fan of the Raptor myself. Is this the 1/6 scale body? Last edited by Bowler; 10-02-2016 at 05:46 AM. |

Little Update, Found some free time this morning and whipped this up. What can I like stinger bumpers. Still got some grinding to do to hide the crap 80 amp flux core welds. I think it came out alright for what it is. Scrap off my bench. Need to go re-up my stock of metal. |

Update time, even though it s a joke as far as changes and things are concerned. Lol Changed the front bumper. Stinger wasn't doin' for me, so I whipped out a simple front bumper (more photos later). Also tossed a headache rack together to keep from smashing the cab on a hard roll over. Last Sunday there was a GTG at Island park in Springfield oregon. Finally got this rig out on it's own tires. Currently making a U4 style cage for a set of ar60's, so keep an eye posted for that. This rig has taken a slide to the back burner while I got ham with 3/16's and 7/16s rod and my tin can welder. More updates soon though! Take 'er easy. |

Man I am in love with this build. Easily my favourite body on the SCX10 II that I've seen so far and the colour just pops. Wish I had your skills to be able to fab different steel components at the rate you do as my imagination is far superior to my practical skills so I can't keep up! Thank you! It's a work in progress. Still a ton I'd like to do to it. The wheel base is actually right on at 12.3. yes, with the hard body and all my custom metal work, it sits right at 13lbs. Although when wheeling this rig it does feel more realistic with the weight where it is. |

Got this thing out on a rainy weekend. Photo buckets been broken so haven't been able to post any pics. But heres a few from my last outing (apologies, pouring rain can be hard to get good photos in) Bad photo...but Man, these proline light bars are bright, that's on a weak eflight 2s. bad quality, but I rather like this photo. More build stuff very soon. Have been fabricating some bumpers for my buddies Red Raptor build. Taker 'er easy eveyone! Last edited by quinn_thercdude; 11-05-2016 at 11:10 AM. |
