Default SCX-10 II build: front axle alignment issues

Hey guys,

I'm in the middle of my SCX-10 II build and I'm having front axle alignment issues, I don't have a servo installed so the steering link is free floating I don't think that should be an issue but as the truck sits now the front axle is offset more to the driver's side and pulling my suspension out to lunch and causing my shocks to sit on weird angles. I tried spacers in the shocks and got the angles taken care but the axle is still offset, when I compress the shocks the front axle is what looks to be center of the 2 bumper mount holes

Is this normal?

Make sure all your links are the correct length

Do I set the castor to 10 degrees on both sides?

The castor was set correct then as well. I'm running out of options. If I unthread the link ends it seems to center better

Go back and triple check everything particularly link lengths. If you build it the way the instructions say, it works.

If I'm not using the stock provided shocks will that have mess with the alignment?

I had the same issue with the stock setup and even worse after I installed The STRC Front Shock Towers,
I added (4) washers to the Pan Head bar (as in the pic) two on each end it solved the alignment problem.

That is an inherent trait of a 3 link / panhard setup required when running a chassis mounted servo.

At mid shock compression the axle should be centered, as it bottoms out the axle should be shifted to the over side. This is exactly as intended.

If you adjust the links to have your axle centered at full droop (shock fully extended) you will be making things worse on the compression side.

Are those shocks longer than the stock shocks? If so that explains why your axle was not centered. The axle is following an arc dictated by the panhard link. With the longer shocks you have changed the path the axle follows.

My kit was box stock. It all aligned good. The axle will follow an arc due to the pan hard bar as others have said. I did not use any spacers on my panhard bar.

I replaced my panhard bar with a Traxxas turnbuckle because I was constantly making adjustments to the length. Bone stock, the stocker works great, change anything and it's either too long or too short. It's nice to just stick a wrench on and give a couple turns to center everything back up.

StomperFan needs his axle centered at full droop because his truck never leaves the shelf.

About The Shocks: Yes the shocks are longer then stock by 10mm,
The stock shocks are 90mm and mine are 100mm so yes that could have thrown the alignment off.
My truck is sill a work in progress and has not been tested on the trail.

I am also planning on going to 100mm king shocks, so does that mean I need to add washers too or is there another work around?

3 link straight axle flexed one way ifs the other just flex the front axle and watch tire straight up and down driver side passenger swings out..........take ur lower links and picture them flat. no issues the more angle the more axle steer

Hey guys

Sorry I've been busy with family matters and had to put the build on hold. But I'm just opening the box now to keep on going.

The shocks I purchased are 110mm they are boom racing G6 shocks

The real question is, why are you putting 20 mm longer shocks on it?
