Default Scx10ii axle grinding

So I put my kit together but I noticed the kit does not
Free roll and I have a grinding in both front and rear axles
I went through them and could see no defects
If I pull the pinoin out it is fine
I’m just wondering where would I place a shin to keep
It pulled outward

So i assume you dont have the 2 drive axles connected, seem like they have to be that to run smooth with this setup.

I really dont like the free floating input axle in these axles, seem to cause so much grief and panic to many building this truck.

I’ve changed the drive shafts to the hot racing
Ones and I tried a different ring and pinoin
And different axles housing
I’m missing somthing I just don’t know what
Only thing I didn’t do was shim it
But where do I put the shim if it goes between the pinoin
And pinoin bearing it binds even more

Put the shim or an oring on the shaft at the outside before you fit the driveshaft, will keep the gear pulled out against the inner bearing

If you pull the driveshaft out when you turn the gears does the grinding go away?

Just so you know the front will not be an issue without the the shims as it will push the pinion out at it drives forward

It's the same setup/design as the Bully 2 rear axle.
