Default overdrive transfer case

Working on a new mod to overdrive the front axle with the stock transfer case. Currently in the works is making a new through shaft that will be longer so the rear drive shaft hooks up from a new ouput.

heres my mockup

The shaft is still a work in progress. so for now I have put this thing back together and moved the motor forward more and changed the shock mounting for a lower center of gravity. looks great and performs even better. The new servo is working pretty good too.

Little progress on the shaft it self. I decided not to add the hole which is only for 2 speed. the transfer case gear pin will keep the shaft from moving forward or back and then the extra end hole is for the rear driveshaft to hook up right out of the transfer case.

Also updated my battery tray to sit a little lower and flat. I like having the strap again for the battery, I was just using the new Velcro but in a hard fall the battery would always pop off.

Fitment was close to perfect for a 1st draft. but i might make some minor adjustments in hole placement and shaft length.

about 15 packs on the overdrive mod and new JX CLS 6336 servo and I'm beating on it pretty hard. I'm working on a write up now with step by step what I did using the axial 10ii PDF.

no issues and no gear slop for both so that's cool

couple action shots because if there isn't pics it didn't happen right

Looks great, less end slop in the tranny is good as well as OD front, good job! Can the battery mount tray get lower, looks like room to drop down about 1/4"?

Thanks man!! yeah that tray can be lower, the slit for my strap is what's limiting me so I just need to make another one.

side note.... editing a PDF is a PITA. I might just take everything back apart and go one step at a time taking pictures, but my comp is June 9th and I don't feel like tearing it back apart at the moment haha.

It's not stainless (stainless is too generally weak especially for this type of application), some kind of somewhat hardened steel.

Screw it.. stock up on Chromo Rod! Upgrade the upgrade! Please put me down for a few shafts if you decide to get a vendor star and offer these...

I think 5544T242 or 8927K24 McMaster, will work fine. It’s twice as strong as 304 stainless

This one looks better, but either should be good.

Looks great. i new this tranny had potential as a super scale item. YOu did a great job of executing. I wonder how many people have thought of this, but not acted on the idea.

Any updates on this Mod? How much overdrive does it provide?

I got the material picked out but other than that nothings happened.

I was keeping everything together for a comp this past weekend which I placed 1st in class 2.

This mod gives you a 30% increase in overdrive for the front axle

I will eventually get the rig torn apart and a build thread made soon. I'm taking a whole week off work for a staycation so hopefully I can get it done then.
