Seriously though, the rig looks badass. I'd love to see it in kit form but would take it either way if it had a 2 speed t-case. I don't see any value in having a 2wd option, either as a replacement or addition to a 2 speed.

I've been DYING for a quasi-scale rig that can crawl yet also haul ass. I don't care if it's KOH style or blasting through the virgin snow that's sitting in my yard right now. These days I don't have time to build a rig from parts, and the only kit/RTR option out there right now is the Summit.

I think its great the manufactures,especially axial,continue to put out new products for this segment of the hobby.

i sure hope they come out with this ... im just getting into the crawling world from the track racing world (traxxas). Im wainting on my axial parts to get here now. BUT a nice built RTR would be awesome to play with.

If Axial wanted to talk about it, they would of already.

I think they are anticipating a big market on this and trying to be prepared for its release. Dont want to have it go like the honcho where for months it was sold out everywhere.

2wd is 2wd. On the business side of things, dig would not differentiate this rig from what's already on the market nearly as much as a 2 speed would. If 4 channels are in the cards and 2 speed + dig/freewheel was done that would be sick but most likely cost prohibitive.

Look at it this way - if Traxxas is going to release a KOH-style rig, you know they'll include a 2 speed so that they can market a top speed rating. Axial could beat them to market w/ a better quality product, or they could release as either a dig or single speed and miss out on that market. Plenty of us on RCC will buy it either way, but the general populace doesn't necessarily have the same needs.

Enough bench racing for me for one day.

If it has a 2-speed, which I very much hope it does, I hope it doesn't have 2WD/4WD selection. I'm not interested in paying for the added design and manufacturing complexity of integrating both features, nor the maintenance costs, for something I'd use very infrequently. If it's just dig or 2WD/4WD (dig minus the driveshaft lock that I associate with the term "dig"), I agree with Csnyder in that Axial will have missed the mark with this rig. And if the CKRC RTR price is accurate, which I doubt it will be, I don't see dig, 2WD/4WD, or 2-speed being features. $350 seems too low for those features, especially compared to most similar competitor on the market: the Summit.

Now if this thing does have a 2-speed, new wider, slightly more scale looking axles, and comes as a kit for $350 or less, that would be a killer rig. It would difficult not to buy one and start local KOH-style events with friends. That would be sweet.

i honestly dont care if its a 2speed. all i really care about is the style and the way it looks. its pretty much the only affordable new rtr, scale buggy out there right now.

There is a good chance that based on their close relationship with Axial that CKRC's price is pretty accurate.

For me RTR two speed is good enough. If you want to add dig, that's easier than adding to the tranny than it would be trying to make a single speed tranny two speed. Of course with the right brushless motor setup (via some secret CC is working on and two speed really isn't necessary.

After all, the summit uses the two speed mainly due to the brushed motor which is heavy on torque and low on speed.

i'm waiting for this rig too. obviously all we can do is guess, but that is part of the game.

i look at it this way. a rtr honcho runs about $300. thats chassis, transmission, axles, wheels, body, electronics, etc. if this is a rtr kit i don't think there is much more they could add to it and keep it at $350 (assuming that will be the actual cost) since you still get a chassis, transmission, axles, body, electronics. what can you get for an additional $50? brushless? 2-speed transmission? this is assuming their costs to produce the chassis, transmission, axles, body, etc are comparable to the honcho for a production line product. i don't think you'll get both. if the $350 is for a kit that might be a different story.

I looked at the preview photo again and happened to notice that RDC is one of the "sponsors." I would say that definitely bumps up the likelihood that this rig will be go-fast capable , one way or another; I can't imagine why they'd be involved otherwise. Griffin is also listed and they are of course the title sponsor for KOH.
