I tried a 3s battery on my Wraith. The rig was bone stock other than the battery and I also installed a Hitec 7950TH steering servo. Without the BEC it would barely steer without browning out a LOT. And the front wheels weren't even on the ground so there was no resistance. Maybe using the stock servo it doesn't brown out as often, but I would just install a BEC and be done with it.

The stock servo won't brown out that easy but pretty much ANY bind in the rocks will do it to it.

No smoking the servo is not the problem. When you run a 3s LiPo it cuts down the ability of the internal BEC to supply enough power to run the servo. Again, with a 3s pack a BEC is required.

Just because a guy has a bunch of videos doesn't mean he is a reliable source for information. Just like a high post count doesn't mean anything, I'm full of shit most of the time

I know it doesnt make him an expert. I just thought it might be someone from here, maybe even you and I didnt want to seem insulting .:lmao:

Seriously though, he did seem to be really into RC so I assumed "Smart", and maybe he just did it for the 30sec. of video.

I WILL use my CC BEC on my wraith when it comes

:ror: No worries man. Good luck with your truck when you get it. You'll be much better off after having this much time to research all the little in's and out's of the truck before hand.

My friend gave me one of his extra Castle link card/usb thingy.... he said down load the program and I can make adjustments to my ESC... where the hell do you plug this thing in at? Im not seeing anywhere it "plugs" in. Oh and putting that stupid rubber gasket back on the receiver box is a huge PITA!!!!!

You unplug the wire from the esc to the receiver and then plug that wire into the card."thumbsup"

You know after I posted that I went back out to the garage and i figured it out. For some reason (could be because I haven't slept yet) i thought because the plug has 4 pin openings and the card only has 3 i didn't think they'd work until I just plugged it in. Then the lead on my negative motor wire came off... so I had to sit there and strip a lil of the covering off so it could get a good bite on the end, re crimp it on and put it back together.... what a PITA.... Im going to bed now! LOL

What are the ratings of the stock ESC? Whats the lowest turn motor I can run on it?

I have not seen any published turn limit. I have seen stock HPI 15 turn motors ran on it though. Not sure of temps but it seemed to run fine. I do not recall if that was on 2s or 3s either.

Dont think it will handle a Cobalt 7T on 2S (5600mah 50c) would it?

Very nice informative thread "thumbsup"

I am still deciding between the SCX Honch RTR and the new Wraith.

Was a thread like this done for the SCX10 RTR? I have looked and searched but could not find anything......a link would be greatly appreciated if there is such a thread. ;-)

I have never seen anything like this for the SCX10.
