Question Best adhesive for Wraith frame material?

Hi,
Could anyone please recommend what adhesive they have had success with for glueing Wraith frame material together with? Just good old CA? There must be something else?

Minor low level roll over and drop + cold temps = broken cage.

It's in a location where I may be able to drill and dowel it back together. To give it the best chance though I am going to need the right product.

Thanks,
Ian

Indeed drill&dowel, and then shoe-goo. You could then cover the breakage with black heat-shrink.

Cyano acrylic will break immediately, and other adhesives fail to stick properly on the nylon of the cage.

I'm by far no expert or can give any sound advise, but have you tried to run a screw up from the bottom or side depending on where it is to help hold it besides any adhesives?

Break is in a tough spot (isn't always...).

I did think about the screw approach but its a long way to go. A pic is worth a thousand words right. Should have atached from the start.

You could try a plastic tube that fits around from the picture the right side slide it over the frame then glue the two broken pieces, slide the sleeve down as far as it goes then put a couple of screws from the side to help hold it all together. Just a suggestion!

I am following you Pain with the sleeve. It does not need to be that pretty as the roof will hide some of it.

Jay's shoe goo suggestion is good also but that will still be more of a 'mechanical' bond won't it? Is there a product that will 'fuse' the frame material more like a chemically induced weld? Take plumbing ABS pipe and fittings for example.

Chop the top and make a slant back!

I am digging the chop top or a fast back approach also.
If stock configuration repair is unsuccessful then that's option #2.

Crazy glue makes an all plastic glue which has a primer you put on 1st, works well on the stuff i glued. I would also drill small holes on each side of the break and twist some thin metal wire to hold it tight. Or maybe sleeve it with some hollow aluminum tube.

Anyone tried gorilla glue on the cage? That stuff is lethally strong.

You could try this. It's not a glue it actually melts the plastic together. I just don't know if it will work for that plastic.

I suppose I could try the above product with some scap from my kit trees? Will go out to the LHS and see what they have like that. Thanks for all the input so far.

Slip a piece of heat shrink on the tube and slide it over out of the way. Mix up some plastic epoxy to glue the frame back together. Once the epoxy dries slide the heat shrink down over the repair to hide it. I use the plastic epoxy all the time in RC and it's never let me down. It gets hard when it sets up, shoe goo stays rubbery after it sets up.

Well I decided to drill out both sided of the break with a 1/8" drill bit and install a 1/8" dia. aluminium dowel. The dowel ended up about 1" long. LHS owner advised that JB Weld be used to cement the joint so I am giving it a shot. As mentioned already if it doesnt work out I will go slant back or fast back style. Will post up how the joint sets up after the JB Weld has cured.

I doubt that joint will ever break again doweling it with aluminum.

Well the joint seems very solid after the JB Weld has set up. Have a slight masalignment due to the 1/8 holes not being match from one side of the joint to the other. Maybe a 64th so it is still noticable. Its covered by the roof so not that big of a deal. Maybe adding another 32nd to the hole diameters and staying with 1/8 dowel next time would allow for some correction?

If the snow would stop falling maybe I will get a chance to test it out before May...
