I've been planning on coming down on the 4th. Still waiting on some parts for my Super though. Hopefully I can make it down this time too. I came down to the last SC comp and had a great time.

i started the interior friday and i planned to crawl this weekend so i painted the stock hood silver for some test running. i really like it and may run it for awhile or look into the dinky hoods. poser shots on the rocks i beat this thing to death over the past 2 days and it has taken everything i have throw at it or thrown it off. i am suprised what this thing will take. hit up a construction site tonight and it suddenly went to 2wd. guess i will be upgrading the lockers if i continue to run the vxl and boggers. a few videos http://s108.photobucket.com/albums/n...=VIDEO0035.mp4 http://s108.photobucket.com/albums/n...=VIDEO0037.mp4 http://s108.photobucket.com/albums/n...=VIDEO0003.mp4 Last edited by TODBLDZ; 11-20-2011 at 06:53 PM. |

Finally some destruction A little JB weld will make it new again. Works best if you epoxy or JB a new one though. I've successfully re-used a spun diff housing too, didn't seem to hurt it's performance. A word on the JB, the locker in the photo was assembled with the JB wet and will never come apart, I locked it in a vise and busted the diff casing trying to get the ring gear off After you glue the diffs the next problem is it will break the heads off 1 or more of the 4 little screws that hold the diff together, I've broken 2 diffs like that now. I've been considering the RC4WD solid diff dealy with the hardened gears. The Axial HD gears do hold up fine fwiw.

You can't run the plastic hood, it won't get any dents. It's real easy to bust out a hood, check it out. The pop can
Hood 2.0
After god knows how man packs
Hood 3.0 Start
Priming
The hood is 2 pieces, shaker style
I can send you my basic template via email if you want a crappy guide, it's not exact, but it gets you close and has the holes marked.
Plastic's for toys! lol If you got any questions don't hesitate to ask

| yes sir. thanks for the heads up on the JB weld. i have some 14mm round stainless here at work i hope to make some barrel type lockers out of soon. i have a few out the cross pins also but may cut down some drill bits just to make them a little more stout. i know the plastic housing will be the next weak link so may try an aftermaket 1 piece locker like you mentioned also. hood 2.0 is awesome and would fit my style nicely. i may take you up on the template. your rig looks killer and i need to subscibe to your build so i can keep up with all your great ideas. im hoping to work on some boatsides this week, getting my interior in finally, and installing the titanium uppers i got from Ryan at ECRC the other night. thanks for all of your input and tips man. didnt get as much done as i had hoped but started a little detailing and rebuilt the front axle. figured while i had the diff cover off i would pull the rear cover too and paint them. also put my favorite sticker of all time on the hood. it really fits my driving style. | |

a small update. i finally got my VP titanium uppers i got from ECRC installed over the holidays. they are definetly a big upgrade from the stock plastic uppers. while i had the skid and axles dropped out i installed a slash 4x4 slipper clutch assembly. the stock slipper couldnt quite hold the power as well as i had hoped. installing the slash slipper gave me a little more clearance between the spur and motor plate also. i painted and installed the interior but havent had the chance to get any detailing done yet. pics will come as soon as i get a chance to start on that. also i cant seem to keep the 1.5mm screws in my trans outputs. im pretty sure another one came loose on me yesterday during our little bash session. anyone else had this problem? |

Todd, This thing is looking sick. It has a great overall stance to it. I love the look of the V6's with the boggers mounted. Great work myfriend! Great work. |

How the heck has your spur gear held up. I put a 10t puller in mine and it wasn't 2 packs later stripped it and it only goes 6mph. are you going to eventually switch to the 32p gears?

| Maybe if it was a 50/50 soundtrack so we could still hear how hard your trying? You can definitely here a a driveshaft pop or a locker clicking on video I've captured a couple of each. No sound from the background removes any "presence" from the video. W/o the music I'd might have thought I was right there running with you guys! idk was music blaring while you were on the course? I have friends like that, nothing personal... when I go to their houses they crank the stereo and we scream at each other from 3ft away over the music, whatever makes you happy different strokes for different folks. IMO for just music you need 3 minutes of non-stop action and special effex, then it looks like a real music video, or something a manufacturer threw together. Not a huge fan of rap, maybe rolling down the highway with some subs whilst breaking some other laws but not an everyday occurrence for me. That's actually a good, politically correct response in my book... I watched a dozen or so of your other vids, they're all pretty cool you should post a video response in one of my youtube videos with alot of hits, I'll approve it...well if there's RC noises in the background Axial Wraith videos - YouTube I admit my vids are painfully long but I'm working on it, the latest "river carnage" has less repetitiveness maybe you could give me some constructive criticism. I think it's hard to leave out footage since your the proud papa sorta... it's all cool to me lol. |
