Default Is this a good battery/charger?

Ok yay or nay on the battery and charger? If not the right one I can return but want good stuff but not go overboard at the same time.

Onyx 2S hardcase Lipo 25C battery pack w/deans
Connector 7.4v/5000mah
Onyx 235 Lipo charger w/balancing

Also showed to have a 5yr warranty

Oh, and I'm getting a servo and ESC Saturday. Hitech servo was $100, ESC a bit cheaper maybe.

I can't speak for the battery but my charger is an Onyx 230? (IIRC) I bought it knowing I would convert to lipo someday and it's served me well ever since. I've charged everything from little 150mah nimh micro packs to 5000mah 3s lipos with ease.

I have the Onyx 245 (It's basically just the dual version of the 235), and Onyx 5700 Lipo batteries, and could not be happier with the purchase! I think you'll be happy.

Anyone ever try any of the chargers on HobbyPartz.com? The have a lot of LiPo chargers for under $50 that appear to have a lot of functionality.

Here's a couple that I'm considering:
SkyCharger 6200 200W Multifunction LiPo/LiFe(1-6S) NiMH/NiCD(1-18S) DC Charger/Balancer
Thunder T606 1~15 cells LiIo/LiPo/LiFe Balance Charger/Discharger w/ USB+Temp-Sensor+Auto-Fan+LCD Display
Gens Ace iMars 50W 1-6S Smart LiPo/LiFe/NiMH/NiCD Battery Charger/Balancer
Dynam Supermate DC6 DC Multi Function Balance Charger/Discharger 1-6 cell Lilo/LiPo/LiFe, 1 to 15 cells NiCd NiMH

i have the charger and it is awesome, a lot of adjustabillity and still easy to use. comes with 3 blugs and balancing connectors. never had a lipo from them, but their nimhs are real good. you should have 0 problems!

I have the Onyx 235, bought it over at GS Hobby in Ft.Smith. It's been a great charger, you won't be disapointed with it.

I run SkyLipo 3s 4000mah batteries I bought online at Hobbypartz, but they have some decent batteries over there at GS.

I have the hyperion eos606i charger. Love it, the onyx 235 is good also. Biggest difference I see between the two is the displays. The onyx is small and takes a bit to figure out hiw to program it, where the hyperion is larger and a bit more user friendly. Talk to zack up at gs hobby, he'll hook you up. For batteries hobbypartz.com has some of the best prices.

Also, another thing I have noticed is that when people talk about chargers, they will often recommend DC only chargers with out realizing how much of an inconvenient charger that is for most non-racers. I really don't feel like digging out a DC power supply or going out to my car every time I want to charge a battery. I feel others share this dilemma.

Have to agree. I've run a lot of batteries and had good success with the sky and genace lipos from hobbypartz. Easier to get a hold of than from HobbyKing and for bashing, and even rock crawling competitions, batteries the price you can't beat them.
