Default Another Christmas Wraith

I received a Wraith RTR for Christmas and am completely new to crawlers so please be patient if I ask and stupid newbie questions...lol I am mainly wanting this truck to be a solid truck for offroad bashing and mild crawling.

I unboxed the the truck and ran it once to get a feel of the stock performance then tore it apart and began the upgrade. When disassembling the axles, I found the gears were opposite the instructions; front gear toward short side and rear toward long. I reassembled both axles per the instructions and had a small amount of binding in the rear. The solution I found was to reverse the sides as it came from Axial. After researching here found this solution can cause the truck to go faster in reverse, is this correct and why does this happen? With any luck I will be able to run the truck later this afternoon and report on the new performance.

Following is a list of my current upgrades and a few pics, I have yet to change the wheels and body:

Hot Racing
-Hard steel center gears
-SHD differential lock (front and rear)
-Steering rod

STRC (green)
-Steering knuckles
-C-hubs
-Shock mounts
-Rear upper link mount
-Front servo/upper link mount
-Diff Covers
-Transmission back plate
-Servo mounts
-Motor mount
-Rear lock outs

RC4WD
-Upper links
-Lower links
-Front and rear aluminum axle housings
-Punisher shafts

Axial
-HD bevel gears (front and rear)
-Aluminum servo horn (backordered)
-Universal set (backordered)

Electronics
-Hitec 7950TH servo
-Timbuk2 Wraith edition

Gearing
-32 Pitch 56T spur with 14T pinion

TopCad
-Aluminum piggyback shocks

Thanks in advance for any assistance anyone can offer!

Finally resolved a few issues covered in other threads and the truck seems to be running well. I added new wheels and tires and thought I would share the latest pic. Next on the to do list is a new body but still pondering what direction I will take.

Thanks, they get much better traction than the ones that came with the RTR.
