Default Cheater rig!

So ive been wondering what this wraith things all about for a while now but not until i watched the light weight class three legal rigs go places with ease.

So i found one on here for sale decently equipped, and commenced to rebuild the entire rig. haha.

I like my Fords so i cut a j concepts short course f150 apart and skinned it up.

tekin pro 4 3300
thunder power 3s
tekin rx8
hitec 7950
2.2 pit bulls on xr10 wheels

slightly over 7 lbs. OK I'm down.

Cheater rigs don't have driveshafts.

picked up anew chassis kit from ckrc, cause mine was broken many places and cut too much by the previous owner, so here is the rear cut and bend i came up with.

WOW! love it! I wonder if the HPI '79 F150 front clip could be grafted to the j concepts cab just to retain some of the front fender area.

I toyed with the idea of mounting the HPI F150 to my wraith but was afraid of ending up with a chopped up pile of lexan ...rethinking the idea after seeing yours, nice work!

You can go with a tamiya ABS body, too.

Damn! I've been inspired! Im ordering the j-concepts body and see if I can come up with my own unique version, maybe the HPI cab forward with the j-concepts back half

Thanks for posting this ... I'm obsessed with the 73-79 fords btw

Subscribed! Nice job on the cage, and now I have a few new body ideas....I have an old lexan Blackfoot body, and the bed from an HPI '79 F-150...might be a cool way to skin a Wraith...

Update... Changed the body. Took the top of the cage off above the beltline. gonna add rear steer and waiting for the new pitbulls. Im really digging the vintage paint. The thought is that you just bought some old mans truck he has been lovin for 40 some odd years and, you know you buy it for a song, cut it up and drop it on some beef axles and 44's. Fun.

nice n light just how i like my wraith! EDIT: Re-checked my Wraith weight and minus driver, battery and a couple scale items (no spare tire) it weights 5 lbs, 13.9 oz....so should be just over 6 lbs with driver and rest of my scale items!

Lipo weighs 115 grams as per HK's site: HobbyKing R/C Hobby Store : Turnigy 1300mAh 3S 20C Lipo Pack

Pic without body after all the slice n dice of upper cage? I think the weight difference maybe in your motor and esc? I'm running no weight in my tires, how about you?

I got the same rims and love them. Got a set of TSLs on them for now but want some pitbulls.

Question for ya. What all did you use for your rear steer set up?

Ok, let's see, Axial chubs and knuckles, Chaotic Titanium links, strong hitec servo, and the mount is handmade but you can purchase one very similar from Dinky Rc.
