Default Cheap and easy front inner fenders....

I got my RTR home and pulled it out of the box and one of the front lower links was broken...lol So while I'm waiting for some cash to order some new ones I started with the mods. First I found driver and co-driver. That was easy.. I did the hinged hood mod..OK then I was looking under the hood and seen a lot of open space for dirt and stuff to fly all around the esc and up in the interior. So while at the store tonight looking at the back to school stuff it hit me. "I'll use a plastic folder to make inner fenders for the wraith"....I grabbed a .75 black folder and headed home. This is what a half hour ,the folder ,some zip ties and a pair of scissors got me.

NO Inner fenders.

This is the first panels

Them installed

The panels for behind the shock mounts.

Them installed.

The panel for in front of the receiver box.

And installed.

Here's a shot of under the hood.

And one with the driver and co-pilot back in.

Just a thought,if you have enough material left. You should make boat sides too!

Pretty cool man. I had the same thought but I used some lexan and painted it black.

On the top I just used another piece of lexan to seal it off.

I'm going to. I just need to work out what way I want to do it.There's like 3 ways I've come up with. Just need to pick which way I want to mount them.

Inner fenders are a must for keeping the crap out the tires like to throw around.
Also to keep your action figures clean as well as the seats dash and console, add a windshield, you'll be glad you did.

Nice!

Any chance you could provide 1:1 scale templates for these?

Boatsides are on the outside of frame. Run from the lower outer frame rail under the body panel down to the tranny skid.

The only downfall I see to this idea (at least if you go all out and do the whole rig) is you have just cut off what little cooling air flow you had to the motor.. I would probably do the front fenders but still leave some openness for the motor to breath.. This kinda depends on your set up I guess but mine has ran a bit on the warm side with a few different combos ranging from stock-35t handwound- 550- sensored 17.5 mostly on 3s geared 16/87...
Cool cheap idea though!

It has nothing to do with the air flow to the motor..The only places that are "blocked off" are above the motors air flow. The air to the motor goes under/over the front axle and straight back over and around the tranny. So you're in no trouble with air flow.

Hey TINY!

I have been thinking for long about closing up all openings from dirt but was more focused on the dynamic and motor upgrade so far ( I also got the RTR at start) but you gave me lot of new ideas, thanks!

As soon as I have something done on my wraith I will post pics to you

Good job!
