Re: SkaldidDog's "Buck-Nasty" Wraith Thanks Joel - I've bookmarked their home page! What a selection of, stuff... I'm practically drooling, must contain slobber... mmmm, tools... Cheers, Todd |
SkaldidDog's "Buck-Nasty" Wraith Yeah man they rock. Since they are out of LA I get orders overnight for standard rate. Nuts. Beware ordering delrin sheet >0.250" in the warm months as it will likely be slightly warped when it arrives. A chronic problem with no solution I've found yet. UPDATE: Changed gearing to 15/56 and have found the sweet spot. I beat the shite out of it on hillclimbs yesterday and put 2+hrs on each MA 5420 3S. Insane runtime and tough as heck aside from the broken front bumper (custom one in the works). I have a Tekin RSPro and will evaluate but I don't think it'll take the heat like the cooled MMP will. We'll see. Switched chub hardware to black steel as the Ti with locktite kept coming loose. TSL SS's are the bomb. Pro4 motor never crossed 120 (85F and sunny out) and I was not being nice. Maxx shafts are show no signs of wear or stress. They are overkill. J |
Re: SkaldidDog's "Buck-Nasty" Wraith I love the VP gray color. I plan on getting the same for my Wraith too. |
Re: SkaldidDog's "Buck-Nasty" Wraith Joel, Thanks for the update. Say, how's the tranny housing and BWD engine plate holding up? I gather you did that as a preemptive? I've been acquiring pieces for my bombproof wraith - a Tekin 13.5 Redline w/MMP & RRP gears etc. Cheers, Todd |

Re: SkaldidDog's "Buck-Nasty" Wraith Yikes - 2hrs runtime, that's awesome! So bearings aren't quite up to snuff? I was going to get a wraith kit from fasteddybearings - is that a good kit? Cheers, T |
Re: SkaldidDog's "Buck-Nasty" Wraith Quote:
Bearings are up to snuff they are however a wear component while the others are not as much. Unless you spec ceramics, all bearings (Avid, FE, Boca etc.) will be similar $1 each chinese wonders. J |
Updates: SkaldidDog's "Buck-Nasty" Wraith 4 Attachment(s) Hey y'all, Just a couple shots of the final battery install. "Snug 'nads" as Beavis would say. No wiggling around under long tumbles downhill. From the underside you can see the battery resting on the carbon rod just above the spur shaft. The velcro straps are gooped to the rod so they stay put and don't require complete install each time. I did have to take 1" off of the battery wires to get the THCC to mate just between the velcro straps. Man this thing is a blast...the rare times I get to drive it:cry:. I still can't get over the hours per pack run time. It ain't scay-uhl but it's cool as hay-uhl!!! J |
Re: SkaldidDog's "Buck-Nasty" Wraith Hey, i put a third topshaftbearring in my gearbox... http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7277/7...6d3cd3db_c.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7276/7...16880d6f_c.jpg works very well... Greetings Martin |

Re: SkaldidDog's "Buck-Nasty" Wraith Joel, Thanks for posting the detailed pics of your battery and electronics. " the rare times I get to drive it". I know what you mean; too busy at work, kids, life in general. Just not enough time to get out and drive... (I did today at lunch) But hey, tomorrow's Friday just in time for MrM (martini's or manhattan's) Cheers, T |

Re: SkaldidDog's "Buck-Nasty" Wraith I think I just pooped a little. Yup...I pooped. As usual...sick work, machining is badass blah blah blah. I'm sure I can fill the page with props but instead will leave it at...SICK. JUST PLAIN SICK! |
Has anyone epoxied/JB welded chubs to axle housings? Quote:
Question to all: Have you tried JB weld/epoxy to attach aluminum hubs to aluminum axles. This weekend I put two additional screws on all four corners (chubs and lockouts) to stop the floppy slop. This is the only weak point of the rig I can find and I'm gonna fix it...dammit. Thanks in advance. J |
Re: SkaldidDog's "Buck-Nasty" Wraith I'm slipping for sure. Must be that pesky old age creeping up on me... I need to watch it again. This'll date me, but it was the first R movie I saw. I was 11... good times! Cheers, T Quote:

Re: SkaldidDog's "Buck-Nasty" Wraith I have a lot of slop in the splines of my vp axles and chubs. I had stripped out 3 of the screws and ended up tapping them for 4mm buttonheads. Still don't trust the sloppy fit so I fill the gap with shoegoo. Not permanent and hold it nice and snug. |
Re: SkaldidDog's "Buck-Nasty" Wraith Joel, How much slop are you experiencing? I'm curious as I'm contemplating VP axles, chubs et al for a truggy build? T |
