Default New wraith owner.

I just picked up a stock wraith and it is my first crawler. I have have several RC planes and helos. I managed to pick it up for 37 bucks I couldn't pass it up. So far the only problem I have found is the controller isn't working with full throttle control. So that is first on my upgrade list. Then some softer tires, 55t motor, then just upgrade what ever breaks.

This is also the start of my build thread. Which is why I am posting here instead of the newbie into.

I already passed up a offer for 100 bucks. haha. I think I'm gona keep it around. I can play around with it when my real crawler isn't up and running.

I bet you will be using it for crawling since you mentioned about changing to 55T motor, my strong and not expensive suggestions is to change the rear bevel gear to underdrive, ie rear wheels spin slower than the front wheels. I tried it and it really improves the crawling performance. My second suggestion which is not expensive neither is to install a dig, works really good on going steep downhill plus tight turn of course.

Yes. I am planning on a crawler. The under over drive and dig are on my list. I'm think about a 44t motor so I can still have some wheel speed when I need it.

Great buy bud, i've never bought one for that cheap! Bought some cheap enough that when I sold electronics I was paid to take rollers . Welcome though, these things are great and build possibilities are endless!

I think you may want to think about going as low as a 35T motor.
You did not mention what batteries you run, but 35T on stock (20/80) gearing with 2S lipo is so far pretty good I have found. Lower gearing was just too terribly slow, and taller gearing did not have the slow speed control I would like for crawling. (I tried 22/80 and 24/80) I may try 22/87 if it will fit... that is 3.95:1 vs 4:1 stock gearing.
I may just go 3S and be done with it.

The battery I got with it is shot. I'm going to go with 3s Lipo. I've heard it gives the best results with the stock setup.

Well I finally got some time to do my first mod. I flipped the linkage/shock mounts around to lower my center of gravity. I also moved the shocks all the way back to lower it some more. This weekend I'm going to move the battery up front to get some weight on the front. If I get enough time I'm going to make a custom bumper for the front.

I managed to get a few things done this week. I got a 3s battery and BEC running right. Peeled all the stickers off the body panels and to kill some time I made to hood a flip up out of some junk I had laying around.

I'm really liking the extra power but it is a process to get it to work right. The 2s is fine but I plan on a lot of high end electronic upgrades so the 3s was a natural move.

I've gotten everything in place for 3s, just haven't gotten the actual batteries yet.

WOW, i thought I stole mine when I traded something I only had $100 invested in.... but for what you paid you could basically replace the wheels and tires and sell them to recoup your money paid for the wraith
