Default Robinson Racing Gen3 Slipper Unit

I bought the Robinson Racing Gen3 Slipper Unit w/80T Steel Spur Gear
[RRP1545] and for one the spacer was bent (Grrrr) and would not slide down the shaft to replace the stock spacer, two, two, NO Pin was included to replace the stock one. When I installed it with the stock pin it was able to rub is that normal, the Stock setup has no shot to rub, did I use the wrong Slipper from Robinson Racing or if I had the right pin and spacer it would be fine? Thanks

IMO RR is waaaay overated and quality is going down hill!!! A member of my club has a full RR tranny and has broke everything from the slipper to the output shaft on the lower gear (multiple times) while my HR steel gears and Axial slipper and outputs have held together no problems...

Both running Pro4 3300's...

I put the stock back on, would you just stay stock for the slipper then ?

Have you contacted Robinson Racing for support with this ?

I used the #7856 Robinson Racing Steel Slipper with the SuperShafty WRAITH & AX-10 BEEFY Top Shaft.
WRAITH & AX-10 BEEFY Top Shaft - Super Shafty

No problems with at all and you get 32P gears.

I do run the Axial slipper with 32p plastic spur and no plans on ever changing it... The only thing I have done to it is scar a waffle pattern in the slipper material and added a little loctight...

I emailed them last night.

So you would change the top shaft ?

U have a pic of your slipper and shaft. Does the slipper pin from rrp really help. I felt like the gear would rub on the mount easily.

It depends on what motor you are using. If you running a brushed motor I would just stay with stock parts. I was running a Pro4 and I broke the top shaft off where the pin for the slipper clutch goes through it. I haven't tried the Wraith slipper from RRP so I can't comment on it rubbing or not. However, I don't have any issues with the SuperShafty/RRP Traxxa slipper combo.

I will try to post pictures when I get home from work.

I'll be using a Pro 4 3300 KV Motor.

if U can get pics, that would be great, maybe I'll just send this back and get the SLash slipper from RRP if that's gonna work?

I couldn't find a picture that shows the clearance between the slipper gear on the motor plate/cover. You can get a better idea of it by going to the SuperShafty site. I would have to take the Wraith apart to get the picture.

Here is a picture of the BEEFY Top Shaft on the Left and stock top shaft on the right. As you can see the BEEFY Top Shaft is longer to accommodate the slipper clutch. I have no issues with this setup rubbing. ThBEEFY Top Shaft kit + the #7856 slipper clutch contain all of the parts for the installation.

I'm not impressed with my slipper clutch. I have mine spring almost bottomed out and my rig still couldn't start up the wall with out it slipping. Have I done something wrong?

I just installed the gen 3 80t slipper unit and cranked the spring down as much as I could and it will not hold. The traxxas brushless motor just smokes it. Im running 3s. I had a roc 412 3100kv on 4s and never had an issue. What gives? Not to happy I spent 47.00 plus tax for junk
