Default wraith issues

This wraith is new out of the box, it's my buddies he left with me to solder on a deans.
I went thru a couple issues getting it to even move at all, I was trying to use a nimh battery, but switched to 2s 4400mah lipo and the issue seemed to be gone.

It was just jerking, with little throttle responce with the servo working. I researched the issue & it seemed to be the lipo cutoff. It responded all the way to full throttle, drove it up & down the hall.

I took it outside to the driveway & got about 20ft when it came to a stop.
Now it spins the motor but wont spin the wheels at all.

I have no manual here, my buddy is super green to rc so I have been trying to solve this, but I am a newbie too, only have a few months of rc experience.

Any ideas short of taking it back?

Did you check the spur and pinion gears?

No, is there known out of the box issues?

Would they just be loose? Sorry if it sounds like a dumb? But as stated above I have no manual, at least not until tomorrow when he comes out.

Motor spins? Do you get full throttle just sitting there? Yeah it sounds like a loose pinion on the motor or meshing issues with pinion and spur. It could even be a super loose slipper clutch.

Yes the motor spins all the way to full throttle.

Thank you for the links

Ok, I see that the drive shafts start to spin at the very start of the throttle pull, but as the motor spools up they stop spinning. This is while holding it off the ground.

Would this be the slipper clutch? If so it looks like a 4mm nut on the drawing, is this used to tighten the slipper?

It looks like the best way to access this is to remove the bolts that line the side of the skid plate & remove the shocks (maybe not the shocks?)

Or if you are like me I just crank the slipper nut super tight and don't worry about slippy grippy!! I will tear the spur apart I am sure but I have a strong setup...with the HR aluminum trans case, RR one piece bottom gear set, RR idler and stock metal drive gear. I use 32P spur and pinion with a brushless Tekin Redline 13.5T motor. I have MIP drive shafts and this thing is smooth as butter!! Great combo in my opinion. "It's Only Money" my adopted motto!! Hehehe

I feel ya! I figured for a bone stock wraith a quarter turn back would be safe! I run mine as tight as it will go but I am far from stock also!
