Default Vanquish axle issue...

i bought a set of VP wraith axles off some guy on ebay...and have a little issue...the axles have SS screws in the housing and it looks like they were wrong size or something cus the heads on four of them are snapped off!

they are loctited on pretty good ,too...what would you guys do to deal with this?

also one of the screws holding the diff caps is stripped too...

thats what i get for buying on ebay i guess, lol

how would you get the screws out when they are snapped flush with the top of the chubs and rear lockouts? its on one rear lockout top/bottom and one chub top/bottom...i have looked online for hours as to how to deal with this and came up with nothing..what do i do? i love these axles and dont want to get rid of them cus id be out a ton of money!

HELP

If you are handy...you are goona need to use some heat and possibly using a small reverse drill bit would help. First I would use a center punch to mark the center of the screw so the drill bit wont walk around. If the screws are not galled in the aluminum housing this should work. All I can say is good luck, Stainless screws suck especially when used in aluminum.

As said before, drill it out. Go slow with plenty of cutting oil with a small bit. Or cut a slot in the s rew so you can get a flathead on it and then apply heat to the axel not the screw and gently work it out. My guess is the seller did 1 of 2 things, messed up the thread or used green "permanate" loctite. If the threads are messed up start a claim.

After looking at the pic for a min, you may need to sacrifice the chubs and lockouts, cut them off to reveal the remaining stub of screw left sticking out of the axle tube, apply heat and use some locking pliers crazy ass tight on the stub to back it out.

Even if they were sold "as is" they were not sold as described unless the seller said that in the describtion

Ive been contacted over a decal I sold on ebay because I didnt use the correct word when describing the "blue" the decal came in! Ebay has made it very nice for buyers. You definitely have a claim.

So my questions are:
1.) I make a claim, then give back axles?
2.) Contact seller and ask for some money back?
3.)just deal with it. And. Drill and tap some m4's

Dont know the best way to deal with this ...i paid 200.00 for both axles complete w extra. Vp lockouts and complete strc steering setup w chubs and knuckles....

In the past when I had to file a claim on ebay, I just put the claim in. Got refunded total amount and kept the piece of junk item too. Buyers are very well protected. That is why I don't sell on ebay!!

Assuming you get the old screws out cleanly...Drill and tapping for larger screws is easy !!! Thats what I did with mine so now I have 4-40 SAE screws in instead of metric. I drilled and tapped the axle tube and the lockout the same so when the screw bottoms on the lockout it stops spinning.

Really, the choice is yours. Depends on if your in a hurry to have the axles in your rig. Then I would tap the holes. If no hurry, I'd report a claim and wait to see what the seller is willing to do for you.
Hopefully he will refund you some $ for for the hassle and you can tap and keep them. Win Win.

Pro Grabit® 3 Piece Kit

Heat gun will help break down any Loc-tite that is most likely on the screw. Could use a lighter if you don't have a heat gun.

I have heald a soldering iron on screws to help loosen them up, but I've never tried it with broken heads.
