I will partially back up rick grimes. I didnt run the xl5 but i did run the titan 12t and the titan 21t(i think. Whatever motor comes in a summit) on 3s and was very pleased. much faster than my 35t but just as torquey.

You could always go with one of the slower ROC motors like the 2300kv. Plenty of wheel speed on 3s. If it ends up not being fast enough for you in the future you can always go 4s.

While on the subject, what are the differences between 2 pole and 4 pole motors? 4 pole seem to be the go to motors but how much of an improvement do you get? Do you still try and stay in the same turn/kv?

The torque, and less heat with the 4pole

From my understanding a 4 pole will make more torque because the stator and rotor electrical fields are at 90 degrees more often per revolution. 90 degrees gives the most torque, as the rotor spins the angle becomes less and torque falls off. I find it fascinating and don't understand it well enough to explain it very well.

Here is one article I have looked at.

kv (rpm/volt) gives you your speed so if you are looking to maintain the same speed then yes, keep the kv the same.

I have not run this in a rig yet but it's getting ready to go in. I feel that this will be a good alternative to the pinion busting power of the Pro4 with enough power to get the job done and be fun to drive. Based on the 2500kv rating I expect it will have more top end than the 35T brushed for G6 style events but have more torque and control than the 21T brushed for SORRCA style crawling courses. I hope it has enough torque for TTC events and since it is brushless I can waterproof it for better reliability than a brushed motor for extended mud and water use.
any updates on this griz?
