another XJ/Wraith build

first off, i just started reading this forum and i love it so far. lots of cool builds here. and my fiance just got me a Wraith. and im not the type of person to leave stuff alone.




so i plan on doing a few upgrades to better suit me. most stuff i will replace as needed as i go along like steering and suspension links.

so far ive ordered a pair of lipos and charger from hobby king and a proline xj body.

the goal for now is going to be to convert the the 4 door body to look like a 2 door xj (successfully i hope) and to build an exo around it. i want the axial to look as close to my real jeep as possible, just a little more extreme obviously.

so, my first question here is the exo. whats the best material to build it out of and best way to secure it to the body?

I'm sure you'll have your own ideas but here's what I did. I cut the body in two to fit the wraith cage and opened the wheel wells accordingly.

finally got around to turning the body into a 2door.

heres what i ended up with



and started making the cage out of 3/16 brake line
