hey everyone this is my first post and my first time to own a rc crawler. I used to play around with a micro rs4 back in the day. I just bought a wraith and have played with it a few times but when I started to do some serious crawling with it, a bunch of smoke came out of what I thought at the time was the motor and it started doing it every time shortly after use. so I took it apart and noticed that it was the black and red wire that connect to the motor that are melting and smoking. so what's causing this and how can I fix it? im not very tech savy when it comes to rc's so bare with me, I also noticed the wires that they connect to are a bigger gage. im also trying to build a decent crawler out of it with out spending too much $ so whats a cheap way to make it a crawler with out having to upgrade the next breaking part every time |

Bad or loose connection will cause heat

I had the same thing happen to me. After I noticed the black burns on the wires I ran it a few more times. now I am getting no movement or beeps when I turn the truck on. I am guessing I need a new motor? if I replace motor how do I prevent it from happening again?

I think those stock bullet connectors are junk. Get a good set of gold ones and solder them on rather than the stock crimp style. I believe that a combination of those and a cheap motor are what is causing the problem. Buy a Holmes Hobby 27t or 35t and their awesome BRXL esc and never look back! Really, the stock esc seems to do fine , even on 3s. But I bought a BRXL just because of the awesome combo they had at Xmas. Hope this helps! |

Thanks, I hope it helps me. I had just put it all together after waterproofing everything and was afraid I trashed my esc but the lights on it are flashing and responding to rx just no beeps or movement. (hate the 20t anyway!)
