Shocks should be close to 90* perpendicular to the angle of your lower links.

That depends on the setup. The more angle you put on them the softer the spring will be.
It's one of those things that you play with till it feels and crawls the way you like.

I should also say, at ride height. This should allow the shock to work easiest and allow maximum/best articulation of the suspension. How long the shock you use will also change how well the suspension moves throughout travel.

If you put the shock 90* vertical to the ground, it will act a little stiffer. That's why I say ~90*.

^ this.

personally I always like a little lean to my socks. straight up and down (90* to level ground) doesnt always work best IMO.

biggest thing you can do is find the proper spring rate and shock oil/ pistons, then how much travel you actually need/ use.

That's why I said 90* to the suspension link. It will angle the shock back a little.

I've found this to be about perfect for me. Though I'll often lay the fronts way down to increase articulation and drop for crawling and leave the rears as is for stability.

I built my rig to do all well. It fee very thing decent but is lacking in high speed stability but is still pretty stable compared to some rigs
