Default Dropped stance vs. Articulation

OK, I'm having a hard time deciding which way to go here.

I have a DMG front shock tower, which is nice, but with the lowered stance my front suspension travel is minimal at best. It articulates alright, but straight vertical is very small before it hits in the front. I'm afraid of hitting jumps, etc, and having it bottom out all the time.

I seem to be heading into a G6 direction with it, so needs to be a crawler and have some speed as well, less of a speed/basher rig at this point. So I'm thinking of going back to the stock mounts in the front.

Anyone else lower it and then go back for the same reasons? Just seeing what opinions are.

I had the exact same thing happen with my DMG front shock mounts.

I'd run Traxxas revs hocks set up with bottoming buffers. With 30-50 wt oil to resist bottoming.

I run proline 115mm rears with 50wt oil and all around good results. For crawling and higher speed stuff. My fronts out of control because my cheap rc4wd shocks won't hold oil.
Will probly do gmade boggy back 103s on the front with 20-30th oil to start.

I went back to stock, get the travel I want, tweaked it to get the skid level. As much as I like the lowered front end, for what I wound up doing, the extra travel will be much nicer.

Now I have these two big holes in my hood though......

What was hitting on the front to limit your up and down travel? Was it the front bumper on the servo? The reason I ask is because I had the same issue with lowering mine but I slightly spaced the front bumper out and have full travel till the little bar under the headlights flexes. Not even 1/8" of interference.

It was the upper links hitting on the bottom of the electronics box crossmember. They mount a little higher with the dinky servo mount.

I tried proline powerstroke slash 4x4 front shocks on all four corners of my wraith and felt like it limited articulation drastically. Gonna try rear powerstrokes on all four corners now. Anyone else have this issue?

I dropped the stance on mine quite a but and I'm using the Proline ProSpec Slash Rears. It sets plenty low enough for speed but has no problems in and on the rocks. Though I'm using the DMG front shock mounts that he includes with the stiffy kit. May not be as drastic as the ones you were using. I get full articulation (though I'm not a "flex" nut).

I did the same thing, and went back to longer shocks as well. I went with the GMades, seem good so far.

My shock mounts stuck through the hood, so it dropped it quite a bit.

And for speed and bashing around it was great, much more stable, but with the G6 being the goal, I needed some more flex. It was OK left and right, actually, but over jumps it had very little vertical.

I think I 'm happy with it now. Until next week......

Mine is lowered by lowering kit and turned shock/4link mounts upside down and run a longer hot racing shock. I just mainly crawl. Has great flex and stability. Very capable crawler.

Traxxas servo is just a spare, waiting on new one

Why not put the servo back on top of the axle? ( like stock)

The Dinky mount does put it back on the axle, sits lower and to the side. It was just too tight for what I was looking for.
