Has anyone cut and hinged hood for front battery ? Its a pain having to take whole body off for battery changes.

I have seen people hinge the hood and also use body clips (4) on the side panels so you can remove the whole body fairly quickly.

Four body clips on the side is what I have seen as well. Comes off just as quick as an SCX10.

Here's one way to hinge a hood. Under my hood. You could also try this, just replace your screws with the set screws a locknut on the back and use the Pro-Line caps to secure the body. Pro Line Body Mount Thumbwasher Kit for Body Mount Kits Short Course 6070 02 | eBay |

I've been trying to decide the best way to do this also. I don't know how well it'd line back up with the windshield or even really where the best place to cut would be... Been staring at the thing all week trying to decide.

The second thing I bought for my Spawn was a different body!! Now I just need to get it done so I don't have to deal with the body coming off for swapping the battery in and out!!

That's the one. I simply used my 3mm tap to enlarge the four holes in the chassis.

I was wanting to cut it to make hood open. But not sure if I can get hood to line back up? Hoping someone had already tried this.

There's screw holes all over the chassis, just cut the hood and make some new holes. 2 screws to get the hood off is easy, or do some hinges and velcro or magnets to hold the front down. Just go for it. The body is just going to get destroyed anyway |

I cut some lexan I had long enough to span between the two body mount side screws and about 1/2 wide , drilled two holes and counter sunk them . Then mounted those where the body would normally screw on . Then I added some velcro and matched it to the body. BAMM no side post sticking out to catch on things, no screws to take out and no pins to pull . Just rip the velcro and remove the body. So far so good , body stays on and I can take it off in about 2 seconds. I also added a fair amount of E6000 on all the body posts because my were starting to crack and rip. SLOW FAR SLOW GOOD.

I saw some real nice hinges somewhere but I don't recall where. I'll probably go with 2-3 high strength magnets for the Bronco when the time comes.

I agree with the magnets or the velcro. The spawn body just doesn't seem like there's any real good way of cutting it and making it look nice in the end.

I cut my hood open on the SPAWN and it looks like crap..........huge gap between the front grill and the front of the hood now. Haven't come up with a good way to keep it closed either. Probably going to just buy the regular Wraith hood and body panels now.

Just some rough shots to show you how it looks. Obviously the body isn't screwed on in the photos, but there is a gap regardless. |
