Default Wraith kit vs. Spawn? Advice please...

Hi there.
Setting up a basic rig for my 1st grader. Bit of a crawler/hauler combo. Struggling to decide on Kit (w/ basic electronics) vs. Spawn.
I'll be running 3s, so will that Ae-5 hold up?
I'll immediately swap dog bones for uni's on spawn.
How's the stock Tx/rx?
how's the stock servo vs. a 645mg for ex?
Spawn has beadlocks...
Kit comes with uni's...
Spawn has the new dual slipper tranny...
Kit has softer r35 tires...
Spawn has beefier drivelines...
Spawn has 32p gears...

You see where I'm going with this?
it's a tough call, for me anyway.
Any feedback would be much appreciated.
Thx!

Spawn is probably a bit better setup. The 3s on any of axial electronis is a bit much, motor seems to burn up rather quickly. Im sure with a gearing change it could differ that. Ive had success so far with a holmes hobby motor with tye ae5 and not issues but that's just crawling. The stock servo is not that great for crawling. Factory beadlocks are good just put vanquish dlw hubs on it, plastic ones will strip out. Driveline is pretty much the same. Spawn comes with r35 tires, bfg tires are not that great. Hope that helps

For a youngun who has limited experience, things like tire choices, and upgraded electronics can and should be handled later. The Spawn has all the upgrades to the wraith chassis, its almost pointless to buy the kit right now. The AE5 hasn't caused me any grief. On 3s, in my SCX10. I am unsure if the stock gearing has been addressed, even such I would read Harley's thread.
Choosing a motor and ESC for your Wraith - Gearing Added!
The Tactic servo has more torque than a 645mg, but it has one plastic gear internally, which seems to be the typical failure. Change out to SLW hubs, and an aluminum locking hex.

In all honesty, it should be pretty easy to pick out the Spawn, it will likely cost you less in the long run, comes with most upgrades you would find yourself purchasing, and it sounds like all You, in particular, need is batteries.

Ok, Spawn it is.
Thanks for your feedback.

Many folks have cited the wheel hubs as a weak point for stripping...
I believe the correct hubs that will retain the stock offset are the Vanquish SLW 350s.
Is that right?
Its been hard to find an accurate source to verify that.

Also, where should I buy the 4-40 hardware to go with it?
I will likely be ordering everything thru RPP...

Thx!

Vanquish sells the 4-40 hardware so anywhere you can buy VP products you should be good. The spawn does also have better driveshafts but not by much so running 3s plan to swap those ASAP with the tranny gears. The 32p gears are nice on the spawn but depending on if you are doing crawling or not you may end up swapping gears anyways.

I went for the Poison Spyder as I have had good luck with my Castle based ESC and prefer it over the AE5. As for tires, well it seems like you may be open to upgrading. Depending on if you are crawling again, tires would be one of the first upgrades with CI foams. The body really is part of the decision after that, a matter of which one you prefer and are you ok with the 1/2 interior of the spawn compared to the full of the PS or original RTR

Thx, I found the hardware.

My other question still needs to be answered:

Will the Vanquish SLW 350 hubs retain the stock wheel offset?
If not, which size hub do i need?

Thx!

Thanks for taking the time to post those up. Your rig looks great!
After all my searching, I'm surprised I havent been able to find it.
Your pics look pretty close to stock offset though.
So maybe the 475s will be the way to go...
